Robe of Vecna is fine for kensai mages but pure kensai can't wear it. So really the lowest AC you can go down to is -1 if your dex is 19 and you wear a Cloak of Prot +2 and Ring of Prot +2.
*sighs* Another reason to dual class your kensai - to improve his AC. |

I use the same tactic with my fighter. Mirror image, stoneskin, bash bash bash. Only difference is, I've got bracers and a helm. (struts)

But Kensai can use Ioun stones, so at least that's 1 slot not wasted
So my rangers, paladins + clerics have helmets while my kensai/mage and monk have ioun stones (whilst Jan has his own fashionable headgear) |

tenser transform + a drow adamantium chain + cloak of sewers + ioun stone= -10AC i tried a 9/16 kensai mage b4 and he waltz thru the LAST battle with Irenicus ALONE. |

Im only in chapter3 and my kensai only is lv 11-12
he has allready an ac of -4 which quite as good as my fighters with the regenarating ring hes a killing machine (thaco -5) of course is he weak in fights against more that 2 strong monsters without help from party; but im acting always only with him: enemy for enemy. i dont think, that a mage/kensai is so good, because a kensai only get much more powerfull (of course in non magic combat) Though im curious: can kensai lv 9/then mage reach the max lv of the mage? |

Kensai can go up to L11 and still reach 17th level mage. That's why you have all these 17/11 kensai mages.

Memnoch,
Can you really go up to level 11 as a Kensai, because my friend calculated it out and said that if you did you max out as a mage at level 15. Which kind of sucks because i am a big fan of Simulacrum (sp?). Anyways enlight my poor soul. Thanks Kaliken |

Actually I was wrong (on another post too)...Level 9 is when you should dual so you can get to Level 17. I was thinking of Swashbuckler...sorry...
I think i should *yawn* get some sleep... |
