I'm really confused. In the manual there are pages and pages of traits and skills that characters can acquire, yet I can't seem to be able to get them anywhere.
My party is: Female human 10th level Paladin, 3rd level Warrior Male human 1st level Samurai, 10th level Barbarian, 3rd level Warrior Male dwarf 10th level Barbarian, 3rd level Warrior Male Ratling 1st level Ninja, 10th level Rogue Female elf 8th level Bard, 9th level Wizard Female pixie 9th level Warlock, 3rd level Priest I'm running WinXP pro and I had to use VirtualDub to be able to access all areas of towns. I'm just about to enter Shurugeon castle. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

1. Some of the skills and traits don't seem to be in the game at all. Most likely, the manual has been printed earlier than the game has been given a final form. There is a thread about missing traits and skills on this forum.
2. Each skill and trait in the game has its level. You will be offered the skill or trait in the guilds when you get the needed guild level. Naturally, each guild will teach only those skills and traits, which belong to it somehow. But this is not all. Some skills and traits can be learned only by some roles. Examples: Moon an Fiend Magic - guild level 2, Mages Guild and Temple Artifacts - guild level 3, Mages Guild, Temple, Pawn Shop (at least) Double Strike - guild level 4, Warriors Guild, Bushi Dojo (at least) Iron Lung - guild level 5, Pawn Shop, only barbarian, rogue, bard, and ninja(?) Crusade - guild level 5, Temple and Warriors Guild, only paladin Enlightement - guild level 6, Bushi Dojo, only zenmaster at level 18 and higher.

Welcome to the board, Dr Mad Rooter. As Radek pointed out traits are acquired by purchasing them, by completing certain quests, or by invoking certain items. I hope you sort things out.
If it is of any interest the topic on the missing traits can be found here.

Welcome to the boards Dr Mad Rooter...sorry that was a bit late tho...
Glad you found the help you needed...Your topic has brought up a few old things...Hmmm...that reminds me...it has been awhile since the last mention of missing traits...has the search turned up anything new?

Welcome to the boards, Dr Mad Rooter! May your journeys through the Gael Serran provide an endless supply of salad for the mobile salad bar...
The traits are neat when you find them. Crusade (the paladin trait) and Iron Lung (underwater breathing) are probably the most useful, in my book. Hmmm... that gives me an idea for a thread. See you up top

@ So So
Unfortunately not. The roster editor provides an oppotunity to get all the missing traits - and even one not mentioned in the manual - but other than that, no. I have been trying to look into the programming using a hex editor, but I am virtually illiterate when it comes to such things, so that was of little use. I am considering persuading my cousin to look through it with me in the summer holidays. He is well versed in that area and might be able to help me find something.

*sigh*....so I take it bsftcs...the quest continues then.... Some day we will find them all... but for now... the programming of the game can be looked into with a hex editor?... Hmm interesting... I had originally thought they made the game with another language... Hmmm...

Welcome to the board, Dr Mad Rooter!!!
You've had excellent replies. I do believe that the manual and the strategy guide were both composed before the game got rush to market. We have some still questing for the missing traits and I applaud their efforts! I don't know of many games for which players have done such a thorough job of exploring all possibilities! Do keep us posted on how your game is going! Wyv |
