Another idea for character names (since this seems to be a "hot topic" lately) is to name them after stars. ("Twinkle Twinkle", not "Hollywood"). Here are some star names you may want to use for some characters:
Betelgeuse Rigel Mintaka Alpheratz Sirius Mira Capella Procyon Castor Pollux Canopus Algol Regulus Denebola Pleiades Polaris Arcturus Spica Centauri Antares Vega Altair Fomalhaut Deneb Aldebaron Saiph Zubenelgenubi Adhara Achernar Vindemiatrix Unukalhai Thuban Tarazed Shedir Shaula Markab Dubhe Hadar Cor Caroli Bellatrix Albireo Rasalhague Sadalmelik Becrux Grafias Pleione Sterope Gomeisa Nusaka Arrakis Auva Murzim Zosma Zuben Elakrab (sounds like a good Wizard name!) Talitha Lesath Izar Alula Maia A lot of these sound Arabic, because it was the ancient Arabian and Saracen astrologers who named them; others are Graeco-Roman. However, it should give you a start to think about some names if you're having trouble naming characters. -Sazerac (which almost sounds like one of those stars!) |

Cool,Saz. I kinda like this sort of discussion. Definitely preferable to complaining(no offense intended, everyone. I do it too).

I love this list Sazerac! I usually just make names up as I go, with the exception of my old reliable Mage from PnP days... "Lys'andra" believe it or not! I did not know there was a Lysandra in W&W until I had already made my characters! There are numerous names on your 'stars' list that I would love to use as character names! Very cool! Thanks for sharing the idea!

I have always had a hard time naming my characters. Lack of imagination I think. Now I am making a list for future use, thank to you and all the other creative people on this board. From now on my characters will all have terrific names and I will feel much better.
