I finally finished mine, and it sure took a while. The way I did it was I used my priest to just do Healing jobs and Stink bombs.

IMO, the "Monk" role isn't worth the hassle. Make the priest a Paladin instead (get that Crusade trait!) and then later change him/her to a Ninja. Same effect, better traits and skills, and a he** of an easier ascension quest!

the best way to become a Monk is to go right outside the gate before you go to bed. Turn off the monitor, and when you awake the next morning, save it and you will have completed the boring training.

Of course, the Monk quest is all about patience. I doubt that any of us would make a good Monk.

I just stood my party outside the gate one morning and left the computer running all day, occasionally stopping by to save and beat off monsters (standing outside the left gate of Velaria(sp?) catches most monsters in the trees down the path, so I never got hit while I was away). That night I was a monk.

Patience, grasshopper, patience.
