My party can't get to the second level of the ice temple. The door in the staircase is locked and can't be opened with a KNOCK spell or the lock picked by my rogue. I thought that my party completed everything needed to get to level 2. Do I need some special key or some special setting for the rotating dias?

IIRC, there are three ways to get downstairs. One is to use the "magical painting" on the east side to teleport down, the second is to use the stairwell where all the ice trolls are and the third (not exactly sure about this one) is to use the stairs on the north side of the level. The first two should work for sure.

My party killed all the ice trolls in that room but the door to the staircase leading to level 2 is still locked and nothing I tried will open it.

That sounds like some sort of bug. In the many games I played, the stairs in the ice troll room were always accessible. I don't think you need to do anything with the dais. You just kill all the trolls and click on the center of the room. That always worked for me.
You want to try the official site; perhaps someone there can help. P.S. I believe the "north stairs" are the ones up on level 2, and the painting itself is on that level and can't be reached from the first level. |

Thanks to all. i've managed to get my party to level 2 using the staircase with the Kuldahar picture.
