I ran one through BGII and BG ToB, and I like them, but those were 2nd edition rules. I appreciate all the sorcerer skills posts. I kept those, but I wonder what advice you all have about feats (I think that's the term, it's the one selected after spending the "points" based on intelligence...told you I didn't know 3rd ed. rules...). WHich ones are best to choose>
Also, I just learned that charisma is the most important of sorcerer abilities... Does that mean that intelligence is not essential? Should I spend my 16 points in char. generation bumping up my intelligence? Or should I focus on charisma and other abilities? Though I'm familar with the class, any other advice you have about these guys would be appreciated! TIA D |

Intelligence is only used to get more skill points per level.
As for feats. I always get Improved Initiative, it lower casting time by 1. Spell penetration is nice, too. But the best feats are the one that raise damages, Like Agis or Rime and such. You need 10 spellcraft to get those. I recommend an elf as a sorcerer, as they get the bow feat for free. It's a lot better thant he traditional sling and dart feats.

I always max out the CHA of any sorceror I build. I think that a good INT is useful for a sorc as well to that they can get a good number of skill points at each level to pay for the useful skills (i.e. alchemy, concentration, diplomacy, knowledge (arcana), and spellcraft). An INT of 12 is probably enough, although 14 would not be overly excessive.

If INT gets a sorcerer more spell points, why not max the INT to 18?

My sorcerer had 10 int. All you really need is two points per level. One for spellcraft, one for concentration.

My sorc had 18 chr and 18 int to begin with, because of the sorcerers high chr I wanted him to be my groups talker so the extra skill points could go into skills like diplomacy, bluff and intimidate as well as the typical mage ones Concentrate and spellcraft.
