Darn it, Larry, I was going to say that very thing. Glamdring is pretty close to Carsomyr. And, why should Clerics not be able to carry swords? Some dim memory of Innocent II's papal decree, and Odo of Bayeaux preferring to use a mace to avoid shedding blood?

I read in Time magazine that featured LotR...that the man that created D&D...can't remember his name...used to be a salesman of some kind...then read Tolkien's work. The Lord of the Rings inspired him to quit his job, and give us Dungeons and Dragons. I think that 3rd edition rules is trying to get back to that original version as much as possible...and to allow people to expand their creativity in a way taht too many rules can hinder.
