IWD2 compared to D&D3edition

i dont know the ratio of peopel that play IWD2 but ive played both and for te few out there, i also want to start playing hackmaster. anyway, my main inquiry was whether peopel prefer D&D or icewind dale on other rpg games. i myself enjoy them both but when you get down to it, the flexibility you have with D&D (and a good GM(GameMaster or DM)along with the interaction with real people beats rpg games.

I agree, nothing compares to real life D&D. Real people, real adventures (as real as they can be) and real fun. The interaction is another big one as playing solo (with CRPG's) can get boring and even Multiplayer CRPG's don't compare to having a few buddies round for a pen and paper D&D session.
For people like me tho the CRPG's to date give us a chance to actually 'see' what we have only really been imagining up till now.It adds that extra something for DM's and Players alike to see their favourite character classes and foes, spells and magical aspects about the game rendered into animated image, great colour and real time action.
When I first played BG1 just casting a simple first level spell and actually seeing it play out in front of me was like...WOW
