The Lockpicking skillpoints has zilch, zero, nada, nothing to do with disarming traps. It is all about the Find Traps skill (Detect/Disarm Traps on some versions).

60% will be enough for the early parts of the game, but once you reach the later parts, and especially HoW, you might want to have 100%.

I'm leaving the last open tag on purpose, since it colours my signature, is that causing a problem?

To put it simply, it is not wise to leave open HTML tags. It is the kind of stuff that make sys admins want to kill people because it is just plain common sense.
