Why would you solo a bard, other than to see if it was possible? Since he can't benefit from most of his own songs, his best feature is gone. Lymond

Actually you do get some benefits from bard's songs. The Sirens yearning and War chant of Sith are typical examples, and don't forget -any spellcasting class is never truly alone, you can always have summons and in bard's case also a powerful Bardic horn of Valhalla.
