I think my father saw and used it first. When I went to secondary school we took it cause it was great for homework. I didn't use it regularly till I found the magic the gathering sites and checked daily. I still remember going to a site closing the connection and read it then dial-in again and repeat with another site. The joys of a dialup connection
Then someday the isdn line broke (perhaps by pets) and we got cable since then. |

I stayed away for a long time... then I installed a browser on my work computer, circa 1997, and it's been downhill ever since

It was back in '99 when I first went online. No one around my area knew a thing about how to connect to the net, because it just wasn't common around here. So it took my dad a few months, actually, to connect to the net. It was in the middle of the night and he found a chatroom to a great place that used to be around called Liveuniverse.com, I definately had some great times with people there.

It was when I was in senior, so 97? Yeah, grade 11, so 97 sounds about right. I think my brother must have shown me how to google, (or though, in those days I dunno if google was quite the monopoly it is now and I used a variety of search engines) to get research for my assignments. But I didn't use it for anything else but that, not even really email, until a few years later.

I'm not sure. I remember my dad spent £3000 on an office computer, state of the art at the time, waaaay back. He used it to log into a company to order products for his business. That was when I first got into it. Then it started getting more common (dial up came along) and I got hooked. Oops!

It was 1997 when my father bought the new computer. He said the computer can go into internet and want me to check it out. I tried but really disappointed as the connection always disconnect itself after dialing. It was few months later when the thing improve then I started to use it often.

To tell you the truth... I really cant remember! It must have been only like 4 years ago or something, (I do live in Australia, and you all know how backwater we are ) so im guessing it was at school.
Having said that, I do have the memory of a goldfish, so im going to justify my lack of remembering on that. Alternatively, it was an extremelly horrible experience and I blocked the memory out. |
