My dad got me a laptop for my bday, and this is the video card it came with: 128MB NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700 GPU with 8X AGP
Now I know nothing when it comes to what's decent for a laptop video card, so all I want to know is can this video card support 3D games like WarCraft3?

I'm pretty sure the Go5700 can support Warcraft 3, although I'm not sure about the newer games. The 'Go' series has been designed especially for Laptops, so they're probably not as fast as the 'normal' version. Meaning: I wouldn't try to play Doom 3 on it Try looking for some benchmark tests if you want to be sure.

It doesn't look like World of Warcraft will have very high system requirements. I'd say; wait and see. You'll probably be able to get a free trial period - meaning you can find out for yourself if it'll run
Edit: From World of Warcraft FAQ: What are the system specs for WoW? Processor: 800MHz or higher CPU. RAM: 256Mb or more. Video: GeForce 2 or better Hard Drive Space: 3Gb or more available. DirectX 9.0 or above. For Mac users: Operating System: MacOS X 10.3 (Panther) or better. Processor:1.0GHz or higher G4 or G5. RAM: 512Mb or higher, DDR RAM recommended. Video: ATI or NVIDIA video hardware with 64Mb VRAM or more. Hard Drive Space: 3Gb or more available. Looks like it'll work on your card [ 08-25-2004, 02:53 PM: Message edited by: Dreamer128 ] |

You'll be just fine with that card.
As you all know I'm not a supporter of this name brand. But if you make it past the seething propaganda, you can read the facts of the card. Very impressive for a 'go' card, and not a bad product. But... http://www.nvidia.com/page/fx_mobile.html BTW, [ 08-27-2004, 03:10 AM: Message edited by: Felix The Assassin ]

Yeah, id say thats a pretty sweet present, anyway, you should be able to play any game that is out, but I wouldnt expect it to play the newest games on the optimal settings.

Thanks guys Actually it turns out that the laptop he got me only has the *64mb* card in it, and the thing isn't even here yet, won't be here till probably Tuesday. I was planning on sending it back and getting a nice desktop, but if that 128 go card can support any game, I might just go for that instead.
