My friend and I are planning to go next week. Sometime during the weekday for 2-3 days. Anyone can give me suggestions on what to expect or warn me about?

Yeah, there's a slight chance, that while you're there, you'll see a lot of Ozzies. Just so you know.

The only thing I know about Melbourne is that it has trams and it's not as good as Sydney.

Firstly stay away from Thomo *LOL*
Secondly just have fun! Buggered if I know where you should go. Try Chapel st or something. Haven't been down there for a couple of years now but it should still be a damn good place to start out. Not to mention the city but even though it may just be me, I find it quite boring after 22 years...heh |

Chapel St if you want to go shopping somewhere classy.
St Kilda is nice to go to. If you go to the city check out Lygon Street and have dinner there. King Street is...interesting. Bit like Darlinghurst Road in Kings Cross. I'll second the motion about watching aerial ping-pong at the MCG - it's going to be an experience to remember. Also, you can have dinner at Flower Drum, the best Chinese restaurant in Australia. But for two, don't expect much change from $250, particularly if you like sharks' fin soup. |
