But you do press the button(s) immediately after you turn your PC on?
The time when you choose between the WinXP modes is far too late. Most PCs "beep" when starting. This should be about the right time to go into the BIOS. On my system I have to do this blind, because my monitor needs too much time to adjust itself. If you have the same problem, you can try to press the Pause button several times after switching your PC on. This should stop the boot procedure and you can wait for your monitor to adjust.
