You and your wife did a good thing wellard.
Many people wouldn't haven't opened the door. Perhaps even I wouldn't - that's because living in a big city all of my life has made me cynical and distrustful. I hear of too many con tricks and rip offs.

To Finn - methinks our good Donut was subtitly pointin out that the Federal Bureau of Investigation don't really have all that much of a presence down here in Australia where (I and) Wellard is. BTW - has anyone caught a whiff of where Donut's brother Lanesra is lately

A none to subtitle dig at the rampant ethnocentricism here at IW. *sniff*, *sniff* What's that smell?

Kudo's to you Wellard! While part of me wholeheartedly agrees with the 'beat the s**t out of the scumbag' crowd, I think you are right. Mostly it just required someone being kind, thoughtful, and understanding for the poor girl. Hopefully things will work out for her, and for you.
. . . . . Donut. I suppose telling you to 'shut your cake hole and take your rudeass comments elsewhere' wouldn't be all that subtitle either...but what the heck, it works for me.

It was really kind of you to help her. Isn't it sad when things like that happen?
I hope that police get the scumbag that did that! (I think our forum has its own Ozzy in the form of Wackmister. )

Domestic violence isn't pretty, and guys who feel the need to beat on their girlfriends or wives need a long stay in the cooler with some hardass armed robbers. Then they'll know what it's like to be weak and afraid.
It always struck me as funny (not ha-ha, but strange) that I could punch a complete stranger on the street and get 1 year in jail, but i could kick the crap out of my wife on a regualr basis, and not even get a 'disturbing the peace' citation. Anyway, back a bit more on-topic - I too am a cynical city dweller, and can see that you did a good thing. It's just a shame that you probably helped her for one night, but what happens the next time? Let's just hope there isn't one.
