Tht's okay, many Brits do this. I hope you don't mind if I leave it a while to see other responses.

oh ok I used "of" instead of "have". I didn't see my mistake until I read the phrase outloud.

When speaking it virtually every one I know (including myself), says 'ov'. It's only a matter of time before it's written as 'of'.

Just like twenty years ago you would never have written, "Alright", it was "All right".

I could live to be a hundred and still wouldn't understand you lot. So you're eigtheen years old, already engaged and now you're also being stationed abroad for over three years? And I really hope you told your fiancée about that last bit before you got engaged...
Oh well, different cultures, different habits, I suppose.

Either way, congratulations and good luck.

BTW Dizzy ... make sure to go touring, not just Germany but also the neighboring countries such as Spain and Switzerland.
Errr... neighbouring country?? Spain?
he must of meant France ...
I think he meant Spain. Neighbouring could be extended to describe countries close by(relatively speaking). If he had said 'bordering' countries I would agree.

Or perhaps he was using a 1943 map?
Spain is still kinda pushing it ... even with the 1943 map
Okay people. Stop being so picky. Spain is near so how's that. I know my way and IMO Spain is a nearby neighbor.
