help with missing items

I just got out of the underdark and went to get the Gesen bow put together and discovered that the pieces are gone, poof disappeared. They were in my bag of holding, I don't have a game saved that I still have the pieces.
So my question is how exactly do you add an item to your inventory? how do you modify the code or whatever? Patience please as I have never done this before. step by step instructions would be appreciated.
Also, I noticed that this happened with another item, just poof, it was gone. Anyone know why/how that happens? I have the patches.

open the baldur.ini file in your baldur's gate 2 directory

add: debug mode=1 under program options

open bg 2 and a save game

press CTRL SPACE

a text box appears at the bottom of the screen

enter CLUAConsole:CreateItem(".....")

.... is the item code for the bow and string which i can't find
anywhere

That happened to me too!!!!!!!!!!!
=) but it can be solved easeily! go to www.google.ca and look for the shadowkeeper. that program will allow you to add/replace items in your inventory. Cheating? Nah! The game stole your items after all. Just don't add new items, cause that would be cheating.

I agree shadow keeper is the best. When I was gonna raid the shadowthieves base u needa key 2 get 2 the cellar. I lost the key 2 dungeons ago. Thankfully ppl in this forum told me bout shadow keeper. (SPOILER i think 4 those still in chap 3) It helped me just fine and i got through killed Aravan guy and went 2 pirate island then insited not goin 2 underdark but got there anyway and got out after spending 1 entire week beating it....................... Before I knew it I beaten the game! So shadow keeper is the bomb and.........stuff..................i 4got the addresss ask 4 the addresss............

Way cool thanks guys! I went to the Ironworks home page and found the number for the Gesen Bow. It is bow19. Going to go try this now.
