Ok, anyoenw ho read the post awhileago knwos of Lancer, a D&D simillair Pen and Paper Game
Why I post in BG2? BG2 gamers are soem of the best RPGers, there ideas will help alot!! Mods, this is why I post... So, what updates? The skills section (profiencies) is differn't, if your a warrior, you gain a Fight Skill Point Mage, get a Magic Skill POint Thiefs, get a Rob SP (skill point) Ge the idea, so instead of advancing in weaponry and all, you get your weaponry and skill from your skill points A warrior with one skill point, can then have higher stats in his weaponsm swords, maces, blades, but rangers, have higher in staffs and bow for example Mages, isntead of weapons, gain spells, and priests gain more Blessing Blessing: Priests cast spells using Blessing of there Gods. You gain more Blessing when you sleep, for yuo dream of your god. Using Blessing can dry up, so if soemoen had 100 blessing, and did a 90 Bless cost spell, then he would only have 10 blessing left. Skills: Mages can gain Fight skills thouhg too, if they train like that, called trainging points. A training point marks that your skills of old are stumped (maybe 10 level Mages, cna only cast have of his levels) if he proceeds to the next level, he gain that fighting point, and then can use swords and blades. I plan to use this system to so new kits can be gained, and not just picked. A war mage gains cool war spells at lower levels, because he has fight points, etc. Tell me what ya think ![]()

The whole skill point thing sounds like a good idea. It would make every class be as flexible with their skills as D&D Thieves.
You might want to consider making skill points generic with the ability to buy skills from a different class only with a higher "cost". example: sword skill costs a fighter 1 skill pt but costs 2-3 pts for a mage. |

Id consider the idea of dumping classes altogether. That way you would have players who know a little of everything (general hint for any RPG ever, jacks-of-all-trades are worth their weight in gold. platinum. diamond even.), and those players who would play pure fighters. But youd also allow players to have excellent fighters who can also fling the odd spell, and mages who do kung-fu, and whatever. Very flexible system, but a nightmare to balance.
ON your current idea, im, not sure of the idea of stumping. Perhaps im thinking too much of D&d, but gaining one point in fighter halves your mage level? permanently? maybe reduce it a bit, but that seems to harsh for me.

No No Adrew!!
It works like this, stumping is only when gainging that skill point, for example: Your a fighter, your alright in fighting, but like amgic, so you decide to study some, and put up a training point. This will stump the abilties of your fighter, when gaing that first training point. So you may not be able to wear armour while study for that mage point, but ocne you have it, armour wearablity returns with the spells too!! If you a mage, you would lack you abilites of being mage so as to learn the blade. So, your mage skills might falter at first, but ocne you know the blade, you can grow in both. I did think about droping classes, but then, a soldier in the real world is still a soldier, and a artist is the real world is still an artist, even if the artist can gut a terrorist, and the soldier cna paint a painting. Its the skill yuor msot famillair with, and will be able to extend the most in. War-Mages that came from fighters, are called Mage-Knights, they still share magic and fightign abilites the way the War-Mage does, but are more familliar with fighting tactics. Shadowpup, good Idea. I can make swords still avaiable for mages, but it costs soem skill points in fighting to be good at it, as with the fighter, it would only take maybe one, but a few point to be good at magic. Great idea.
