There is Freud’s approach, where there is surface content placed into a physical scenario which links them to latent, hidden and symbolic forms which are represented by the manifested physical content of a dream. There is the activation synthesis theory, where the cortex takes a random active thought adds random stimuli, involves random sense organs and synthesizes a story to make sense of all of the activity in the brain. This would mean that all dreams are meaningless and are randomly selected impulses within the brain. Some dreams are spontaneous but the most vividly remembered usually have meaning. The Neurocognitive theory is that what we dream is merely what we are thinking about but without control of our thoughts in the conditions of sleep. I personally believe that all of these theories are correct in some way or another, this is because no two minds think alike. Each individual has their own method of reasoning and therefore their minds eye has its own way of viewing experiences and past thoughts and somehow meshing them into a story which can either hold a deep inner meaning or absolutely no meaning at all depending on how important those thoughts are to the individual, personally.

Some have said that dreams are the mirror of the soul. In such a symbology the fighting and death in your dreams could be a reflection of unresolved problems or turmoil in your waking life.
Other people have used their dreams as a creative outlet, allowing them to take coherent form as stories. Perhaps this is a way for your creative side to find expression. |

Well, dreams are absolute nonsense. I know that now. Somehow i can always fly in my dreams, kinda like superman, but without the silly tights and the red cape. I didn't just dream that once or twice, but quite often. But when i jump out the window, i fall flat on my face, time and time again. So you see ? Dreams are a lie.

I have always found out that dreams turn out opposite. What I mean by this is that, if in a dream, the girl/boy you like responds to you positively, then in real life, they will respond to you negatively and visa versa. Beleive me, that has happend to me like 3 times now. This theory of mine applies to eveything ranging from fights to succesion in school or work. But I suppose everybody is different and have their own fate and theories

Hmmm I believe what I heard about dreams on TV (it was a program about cats and dogs)... that it is your subconscious sorting through your thoughts, to decide which to get rid of... and piecing them into a story format for you... I know that they don't have any real significance, cos I once fell of a 36th floor balcony three times in one night...
