No not a beta an alpha, it was meant for the hardware manufactures to test drivers and tweak thier settings for the game engine. And some fool let it out into the public.

ID software is mad as hell (and I don't blame them) and some heads are going to roll over this.

Like I said I didn't bother with it because I can wait for a polished demo when Carmack and his team are ready.

And from what I heard it runs at an amazing 3 FPS unless you patch it..

And finally, that there is a patch out for a alpha is really sad IMHO.

Ye gods. Pirating from ID. 4 years ago I would have the D/L going as I type. And still be condemning it.

But Ive changed since then, I dont pirate (games) anymore.

Alos my comp wont run NWN, so I dont reckon I can dream of running DIII jsut yet. Although ID do make some of the most hardware friendly engines ever - run Q3 on a low end machine and you can still get a very smooth experience. Same does *not* go for lithtech or UT.

np

So who else here also likes to play FPS games along with RPGs?

I wish someone would make a Morrowind "Fallout" mod, that would give me permanent "WOOD"

I just redid Serious Sam - first time w/o cheats, albeit on easy. This game is *tough* - and Quake III usualy occupies a slot on my Hard Drive.

Ill play pretty much anything thats isnt a sports game.

I wasn't even aware there was a Doom III. I for one am not too keen on FPS games. After while I start to get bored, but when I'm having a bad day they're cheaper than a shrink when it comes to therapy.
