Wow. Finished building my new computer this morning. P4 (1.6), 512MB ECC RDRAM. GeForce4 Ti 4600. 7200RPM EIDE HD. 133 Ultra ATA. Hercules Game Theater XP 6.1.

Updated every driver.

Every problem I've had with the PIII (GeForce 2) and read about can be solved by having a system that can play this game in its glory. And man, WHAT glory...

This is awesome. When you can fully support the game it is incredible. And smooth as silk.

And I was blown out of the water when I finally got it running on the old computer.

I think it's the video card that made the most difference. But the faster processor certainly helped with the SOUND & MOUSE LAG/INTERIA problems I had.

And the fast drive has really fixed those slow load times that I experienced. (BTW, if you have your CD-ROM or DVD on the same cable as your HDD, GET IT OFF if you can. ADAPTI drives really put a performance hit on HDD performance.)

I mean, it's just fab. Major cool. I mean, I just don't have the words but it's freaking awesome.

V***V,

I use 1024 X 768 and I've got the graphics and music and AI pegged. I don't know how to enable FPS, but let's put it this way. It doesn't stutter at all while in combat in the rain with "Shield" & lightning effects (sword) and AI at max in the outside...

Smmmmmmmmooooooooooootttttthhhhhhhh....

To think I always "just made due." No wonder I always had trouble with flight & space sims.

And the details. Wow! Now you practically see the expression on Tarhiel's face when he realizes the error of his spell... Before he was just a blobish character... And some of the more intricate scroll work on the Imperial Boots... And the drops of blood in the spray...

This game is freaking awesome. Too bad I had an old Logitech mouse on (killed myself fighting a sub-standard opponent (cliff racer)) during the build and test phase. Just put a gaming mouse back on. Must run as installation is probably done.

BTW, you're Alienware should be upgradeable. If I remember correctly, your processor is fast, so is your I/O. Replace that over-clocked GeForce3 with a GeForce4 Ti 4600 and you'll be cooking with gas.

Oh, why did you change your "location" on your profile? I used to be something about Hawaii, now it sounds like you're down in the dumps a little bit.

ahhh dear dragon king!! you really come to a girl's rescue when she needs it, dontcha?
::flushing bright red and grinning rather stupidly::

whew! your response certainly cheered me up and got me going!

anyway, just before i read it, i had zipped over to alienware to upgrade my 3ti500 to a gef4 just as you describe. LOL! great minds think alike! and its no problemo. im still under warranty, and i'm a "favored" customer so it will be shipping to me tomorrow.

yeehaw!

that means, i can swap out my gef3 from the alienware and put it into my lowend, homebuilt that i use for testing and regular activities.

yes, i know, guys!! where do i put all this stuff in my teeny little apt? hehe, well, when all you really love is gaming and cgi, well, then, you keep your tools "armored, sharpened and rarin' to go" as goofy minsc has been known to shout.

i'm looking forward to seeing morrowind at its clearest, loveliest best very soon. just as you're enjoying it now! omg! i'm so happy for you, DR sweetie!

PS: and thank you for caring, dear draconis. you see, i have brought back my elven pic, which i had hidden away for a while, along with the other reference you mention! i think i'm on the mend, now!
