I want to see some more interesting npc's like necromancers and archers, not all these boring traditionals.... why not a non-humanoid npc, surely that would be of greater interest?

Yeah, the first BG had all of the classes, and many of the duals/multis(not to mention gender balance =P) but BG2 had hardly any class variety at all...less NPCs overall, and 3!!! mage/thieves, 2 rangers & 2 fighters. Sheesh.
