Unseeing Eye Quest

Can someone please give me some help with the Unseeing Eye Quest. I have two questions.

1) How do you open the secret door that is in the hallway right before you descend to the Lower Reaches.

2) How do you kill the Empathic Manisfestation. I can take him from Badly Injured to Near Death but then nothing after that.

First, the locked secret door near the lower sewer entrance will be able to opened once you get a few items down there and you actually come up thru it.

Second, if you talk to the old skinny guy near the temple with the manifestation (old man is at a dead end with a sphere type statue) he will give some hints as to why you cannot destroy the monster they way you tried and how you can destroy it. All the others will give some hints as well after coming out of your failed attempt at killing the monster. For more spoilers read below...

To kill the manifestation just heal it without attacking. You'll see what happens next.
