Game crashing

I have been to the BG2 support site and can find no help for my problem. I have e-mailed them twice and the second time they repeated advice that didn't do anything the first time. My game has good days and bad. On bad it will crash about 8 times in a row within 10 minutes. Then it might play for 10 mins to 2 hours, but eventually it will freeze on loading an area (any area) and usually displays the "Assertion in Line 250" problem. Basics...I am using a Compaq 400 MZ, 128MG RAM, DVD, Voodoo 4 and am really getting desperate to figure out what is wrong?! Can anyone help me?

I wasn't sure if I should post a problem but have seen other posts similar (I think).

Hi, I cannot help you because I am having the same trouble. Mine happens at the same spot everytime! I can not get past it, and it is something that I have to do!!! It comes up Line Number 250 CHDataTypes.cpp. I tried Interplay and tried all they said and nothing worked!!! I can go no farther so I really hope someone can help you and me.

Hmm, have you tried to make a new clean instalation? If you have have you downloaded latest patch and newest drivers for graphic cards and so?
If this soesn´t work I would try to make a complete new OS sinstalation but, well that seems to be overkill. If the guys a Interplay can´t help you I don´t know what can. Hopefully you will get over this problem real quick!
