Finally fixed my crash to desktop issues (so far) and I have these, now:
(1) When NPCs offer magic (like brother braffit) how do I ask for it? (2) How does my gadgeteer make stuff? I have chips, a mirror, lightning rod, electrodes, hinged box and duct tape! Do I have to do something, or will he just cough stuff up occasionally? What does the Omnigun shoot? I forgot to try bullet stones - is it that, or something else? Thanks! MAtt

I don't have a gadgeteer in my party (yet) but I would imagine that you use the join items options in the inventory screen...

As far as I can tell, you don't 'ask' him for magic...if you click on 'trade', he'll offer to SELL you magic stuff just like any other vendor sells stuff...the health recovery spell can be had just by touching the pool he's standing across from...there is also a statue somewhere (i think in the temple 'dungeon' next door) that will allow you to recover spell points, too...I don't know if the healing pool cures conditions, though, or if you have to buy one of his scrolls or potions...?
hope this helps, hammermd |

I can answer a little bit about the gadgeteer. When you have the gadgeteer, you have to know what you are trying to merge in order to put them together. For example, your gadgeteer can merge the doll with the hinged box to make a jack-in-the-box, and item that casts terror. But you have to know, or guess that the two can be merged because nothing ever tells you.
The omni-gun Mark I will shoot bullet stones. This is automatically upgraged as your engineering skill goes up. The Mark II has a dart attachment and is faster and a bit more accurate. I am sure that the Mark III will probably have an arrow attachment and the Mark IV will shoot quarrels as well. I don't have the engineering for it yet, but It sounds reasonable for an omni-gun.

You can use the lightning rod and duct tape in battles.
The lightning rod casts a pretty hefty Energy Blast and the duct tape paralizes. I haven't used the duct tape yet but I do know that using the lightning rod sucks up some stamina points. I just picked up some electrodes and put them into my Gadgeteer's inventory but haven't checked to see if they can merge with anything nor have I been into any fights since I picked them up so I can't tell you if they can be used that in battle...see if they are in the list of usable items (in a fight) and check out what they do if they are!
