Do you watch them?
If so, which ones?
Any comments on favorite or least favorite characters?
Care to trade ideas on what is going to happen in the ones we have in common?

I watch the ABC soaps whenever I can (once or twice a week, missing AMC more often than not )...All My Children, One Life To Live & General Hospital.
I stopped watching Port Charles when they got into that whole hokey vampire thing. From what I have seen and heard of it since then, their storylines have only gotten worse and more bizarre.
I did catch Kevin's daughter falling into the tub after poisoning the bath beads that the blonde was supposed to soak in LOL...that was both predictable and funny...I hope they kill her off...she is the one who started the whole vampire storyline and the one I blame for making the show a useless waste of time and energy ever since.

Feel free to use this thread to voice your negative opinions on soaps also...just don't bait or flame people who watch them OK? We're all entitled to our own opinions of what we consider entertainment and I promise you I won't go blasting cartoons or movies that portray non-stop violence. If there's nothing else on, then why not?

Always watch 'em while I'm sick. It's scary, I appreciate how awful and superficial the acting and storylines are, but I can't tear myself away! It's like subliminal messages...

Actually I think that's what makes them great! My mum and I watch the bold and the beautiful every day. They're so larger than life, and their problems are so ridiculous and unrealistic they're heaps of fun. Although the acting's not *that* bad . Too much realism is boring! Soaps like neighbours try so hard to be realistic and have real-life problems they're mundane and banal and take themselves too seriously.

I can't be bothered with them. I don't even have enough time to watch any "serious" programming I like watching. Between working 6 days a week, and GMing a shadowrun group my free time is very precious.

Now, not only do I have Andromeda to watch, but also Birds of Prey (fantastic show, btw - a must watch for comics fans) and Firefly, with Monk providing a nice diversion when I'm not otherwise occupied (riiiight). In fact, I rarely watched any of the F1 broadcasts at all this season.

I think what fascinates people about Soaps is the larger-than-life characters and the fact that everybody's beautiful and rich. (well, mostly anyways) Sure the plots are contrived, but the escapism is what people want to see.
