This is the best armor in the game, even better than full-plate +1

thats because fullplate and a ring of prot +1 is better than fullplate +1!

why? because then it takes up a rig slot too, and you dont have cool looking blue armour

ring gives you +1 to saving throws as well

Yes, 3 sets of Full Plate isn't too hard to come by.

I always thought there were only two, but I found 3 in my recent go-through of the game as well (but you need TotSC).

1) Priest in bandit camp (kill him)
2) Smith in Beregost (buy it)
3) Dwarf in Watcher's Keep (kill him) -- this guy you "animate" and have him help you fight wyverns.
