I have decided to write a book review of some of the books I have read. Today I am going to start with Evermeet by Elaine Cunningham.
This book is a masterpiece for Elf lovers. It is a pretty good account of the history of elves to near present. It explains the elven pantheon and history of elven gods both good and dark. It tells of the struggle the elves had in the begining of recorded history and their flight to Toril. It is chocked full of good factual data of where this happened and when to who. During the recounting though, there is a sort of present day story going on. The historical information helps explain what is happening presently. I thought this book was very good and it kept me interested the whole way through. I recommend this to anyone who loves elves or drow. PS: Yes, it does tell of the infamous drow before the Descent, I liked them then as well as now. I know this was a paltry review, but somebody give me feedback, I have read a lot of books and would love to share what I have read with others. ------------------ Can an elf get a break anywhere these days? ![]() |

Evermeet is a sweeping epic - a documentary of the history of the Elven People. Cunningham is without a doubt the best at describing elves - she makes Evermeet to be like a really wondrous place. In fact we even see glimpses of Arvandor and Faerie. I love the way she has a central plot going on and manages to build 4000+ years of history around that plot. The depth of character she provides for names such as Zaor, Amlaruil and even Kymil Nimesin is really quite remarkable.
Brilliant book and good review Aurican! ![]() ------------------ ![]() ![]() |

Nice review. I think more poeple should write more reviews of books. Of course, that said, I will try to write some.
Anyway, I need to get into some of these D&D novels, but I'm already so knee deep in Jordan's Wheel of Time. Bah, I can read 2 books at one time...I think...:coo: ------------------ ![]() You're not lost if you don't care where you are. |

What a great review. I plan on reading this book. I was at Barnes and Noble a couple weeks ago and there were no Elaine Cunningham books on the shelf. I was kind of surprised at this.
