quite the little tank at level 10 with the 6 points of damage resistance.. (nice not being able to be flanked either, real trouble for thieves and assasins) Of course what I was really hoping to see was the Red Dragon Disciple. (prob. the last one they will post though..) Check out the Epic Dwarven Defender as well; the damage resistance increases with three points every four levels and you get Damage Reduction on the Epic Bonus Feats list. And it's a d12 class. Imagine a Barbarian/ Dwarven Defender.
![]() I have waited to see the Red Dragon Disciple as well, but the game hit the stores December 2. They only release new material on Wednesdays and the next is December 3.

good call there.. Though I'd say fighter rather than barbarian (for the extra feats). Consider that with a fighter you can have weapon spec. and much latter on improved weapon spec. total of +4 damage. You will of course want the "Whirlwinds" which require dodge, mobility, spring attack and expertise. Also the "Cleaves" which requires power attack. Perhaps feats to improve initiative, and possible top-off with toughness for those extra hitpoints. All told thats a LOT of feats.
I calculated this as the "optimum" for damage soaking on the character build: 7 levels in the first class (or combination classes). 8th level switch to Dwarven Defender. At Dwarven Defender level 14 will be Epic character level 21. This will allow 9 points of damage soaking at character level 21 and 12 points of damgae at level 25, (and so on...). Also you will recieve your first epic bonus feat at level 21 - and presumably that 1st epic level feat will be epic damage reduction 1 (gives a total of 12 points damage reduction at character level 21, and of course #2 chosen again at level 25 will total 18 points of damage reduction). What you will give up is two additional Defensive Stances (actually 2 and a half), because normally you would recieve an additional Defensive Stance at Dwarven Defender level 11 but only if you were at level 21+. Here however we hit Dwarven Defender level 11 at charater level 18, and lost out on the additional Defensive Stance at character level 18 and character level 20. Bummer about the Red Dragon Disciple.. |
