first thanks for everyone for all the advice,, i've changed my party around alittle, i dropped edwin for the mage/thief girl, and dropped yosho for the fighter cleric guy

i have about 4000 side quests to do right now,, and the more places I go the more people need my help,, i've not even left the city

i do have a few questions, are any quests on a time limit,, that girl who said her families castle was under seige, do i need to go there now?

and what about the mosnters at umbhill or the trolls somewhere else?

also i'm trying to find in the sewers the all seeing eye or something,

as well i'm working for the shadowthives to see if that other guild leader is trying to kill off scapehead or whatever his name is, heh

i figured i can give the 20k gold to that guy that says COO, anytime and that would start the next chapter

the thing is i enjoy doing side quests and don't want to miss any of them..

also, i don't know how tough some of them are, i'm sure i would be walking into a death trap in a few of them

so,, what order should i do these quests? are any of them on a timer?

i'm really enjoying the game,, its very deep and sucks you in the forgotten realms world..

as far as combat goes, i'm doing much better, i pause, give out some simple order,, cast maybe 2 spells and then let all hell break loose.

thanks for the help so far

I do envy you You have the whole game ahead of you. The general rule is that, even though things SOUND like you should get to them soon (castle under siege, for example), unless a deadline is specifically given to you, you can take your sweet old time doing it. For now, feel free to wander about and do whatever quests seem fun to you.

Other members can probably give you better vague advice on which quests to put off until later. But remember, above all, have fun and save often.

I agree with Illumina on the whole envy side of things, do not make the mistake on my first run thru and tried to do it quickly, take your time and develop your character. I have just finished bg2 and am now playing ToB for the first time, which is definetely worth a look after you have finished.

In any event, unless they say "Get here by x days, or bring item y here by x days ," you have all the time in the world. Literally.

One note--if you've got Nalia as your mage and you've dropped Yoshimo for Anomen, then you basically have no Thief. I know Nalia says she's a Thief/Mage, but trust us, she is not a Thief. See how low her Thieving skills are? She will NEVER be able to raise them except through items or potions, so unless you plan on ladling potions down her throat for the rest of her life, I'd get another Thief if I were you.

About how much time you have: If you are asked to go do X quest by somebody in your party, it is likely to be personally important to them. It is possible that delays, or even outright refusal, do go do the task will result in their getting mad at you and leaving the party. But don't worry: They will always give you a reminder, leaving you a couple of days to get the job done (or at least get a good start on it) before they get fed up & leave.

About Bad Places To Go: Yes indeed, there certainly are quests that can be very dangerous for a low-level party. You can even get trapped in some of them, in that you can't leave until you've beaten them--so if you can't beat them, well.....
As a general rule of thumb, try to avoid places where nobody has been for a really long time.

as SixofSpades has pointed out Nalia is not actually a thief. She dueled at far to low of a level. Think of Nalia as a Mage with fringe benefits…specifically she can use a bow and a short sword. That said she is more than adequate as a mage.

As also pointed out you now have no real thief. Nalia’s skills are not up to snuff.

Anomen - fighter cleric guy - is a great cleric…the best in the game … but he is no thief.

You might want to consider trading Viconia back for Yoshimo…when you kick yoshi out of the party he goes to the Copper Coronet

there are a lot of side quests. Some simple, some very involved.

You might want to consider taking on a few of those.

you need to go there sooner than later. There is a time limit as to how long Nalia will wait. She will give you an ultimatum eventually. Fortunately the quest is manageable for a low level party…and produces some really good treasure and weaponry.

Otherwise very few quests are time sensitive.

you can try if u like

well if you have found Keldorn you’ve found the way to the next step in that quest

it would start the next chapter

there is no hurry to start the next chapter though.

This is a good time to build both experience and your bank account. There are a lot of nice pieces of equipment for sale…and some very expensive ones too. Some only become available after you complete certain quests and most quests lead to either lots of money…or very powerful weapons.

your journal is there to help you keep track of those you’ve collected and those you’ve done and the progress made towards them

there are some quests that are VERY difficult. I’m sure you will figure them out once your in the middle of them…thus the advice to save often

don’t want to spoil you…so just experiment.

I would particularly advise against triumphantly returning to basements unless you're very confident in your abilities, and keep in mind that sometimes you just can't climb back up Pits.

I would not recommend doing the Cult of the Unseeing Eye quest until your party has levelled up a fair bit. It is, to put it mildly, extremely perilous to new players.

Without spoiling too much, there is a point in this quest where there is no point of return until you finish it. If, and when, you do finally start this quest, remember to make a savegame first.
~~~~ ~~~~
Additionally, when exploring the unmarked houses in the main city, you will encounter some doors that are trapped. These doors are trapped for a reason. It is the game's universal language of, "Are you sure you want to enter here?"
~~~~ ~~~~

De'Arnise Keep and Tradesmeet are fairly newbie-friendly quests. Unless you installed mods, then all bets are off.

Umar Hills is not so newbie-friendly, but not that hard either.

Windspear Hills is moderately difficult, or to put it another way, challenging.

Cheers.
