Sarles took my Illithium (spoiler)

I had the Illithium and the Illithium alloy, but when I went to give the alloy to Sarles he took the pure Illithium.
He must be pretty clever because the alloy was on a charactor that I left at the other side of the building when I spoke to him.

The problem is that I now can't make the Mace of Disruption +2. I have tried to pickpocket Sarles to get it back, talked to the Ore dealer, talked to the Dwarf. All to no avail.

Is there any way to get some more pure Illithium?

No, I'm pretty sure that was the only illithium in the game, unless there is some mod that has more somewhere.

I am not aware of any scenario in which both the quest can be completed and the mace made.

You can complete the quest using the alloy.
My problem is that I had the alloy on the charactor that I spoke to Sarles with but he took the other.

Do you have an old savegame? If so, just drop the illithium before you talk to Sarles and pick it up again after.

No old games. I did the Sarles quest a long time ago & only found out about the MOD+2 when trying to find a strategy to kill the demi-lich.

It appears to be the best weapon for Anomen in my party.

Well I think you're out of luck then unless you want to cheat one in.

The item is good but not absolutely great must-have, and by ToB becomes obsolete. I'd advice not to cheat and simply get the mace in your next game.

I think you're right.
I won't cheat to get it, I hoped that I might find someone to pickpocket for it.

I have the Hammer of Thunder now & it seems a pretty good weapon for Anamen. I will stick with it.
