Sorry for shouting! Boyfriend has done some fancy reinstalling on the computer, and managed to "lose" most of my underdark saves. It's been a while since I played so any advice on beating those pesky demon knights would be appreciated.
As I recall last time I did it with 1 reload only: Now I've got my ass whupped about 1300 times! PS: I tried the "summon skeleton warriors" thing: I'm still dying the death. |

It would help us if you give the names of the NPC you use, equipment you carry (weapons) and what level your NPCS are.
With that information we can surely help you with the Demon Knights.

Use a bunch of summons to keep them off your weak characters. You can set the room up as you please before sending an unwitting summons to die. Remember where they spawn and hide in shadows or go invisible at that spot and wait for them. Buff. Negative Plane Protection. Get more summons spells/wands/items ready for use mid-battle.
And, C.F. stunned them quite well for me. And, as a thought, though I've not tried it, DAYSTAR. |

Best method I have found for dealing with the knights is to have the party assemble outside of the room itself. Anoman summons undead a couple times Imoen a spider summons, Jaheira a fire elemental. Buff your party up. Cast your summons, monster summons I so you don’t waste anything actually useful, and have either Anomen or Aerie cast sanctuary and guide it to the alter and once the knights spawn scoot back out to the party. With your party outside the knights will have to come to you one at a time. Or if it’s more you can get them stuck in the doorway so you only have to deal with one at a time. Let the summons take the damage and pound away at them with everything you have. After you’ve killed the knight in the doorway patch yourself up and go fetch the next one and lure it out.
Why do you have Anomen using the Cleric’s staff? His original proficiencies were in weapon/shield style, war hammer and mace. I would think making such drastic alterations in proficiencies to quarterstaff and 2-handed weapons would leave him sort of wanting. In my experience Amomen has always works better using FoA, usually he gets a new proficiency point about the time the De’Arnise keep is finished so it works out well. Even without that proficiency the war hammer +1, +4 vs giantkind, should work wonders against the demon knights. (I think the knights count as giants.) I’ve never been impressed with Malaker +2, it’s only bonus is a +2 AC vs. slashing weapons. Celestial Fury or Daystar are many times the weapon Malaker is.

Maybe I'm too used to soloing, but isn't that an extremely low character level to be in the Underdark?

Nope, his levels are just about right for somebody who opted to rescue Imoen as soon as possible.
