Outta my way, Lethinan!

Not sure if this is a bug or not... but here's what happened.

I'm playing an evil party, and the dude running the Copper Coronet, Lethinan, was being shady as usual. We talked for a bit, and I decided that my character wouldn't much care for someone like Lethinan, and decided that a good natured punch in the face was in order... just cause I can. <<<-by the way, for those who don't know, punching isn't killing, and you can run around knocking out the whole town without anyone going hostile and no reputation loss if all you use is your fists and don't kill 'em. Guards, children, women, cows, rats, dogs, whatever ->>> Anyway... After 1 punch, I knocked him out (what a wus) and Lethinan went hostile, while unconscious, mind you... Jan , spotting a target, thought this a good opportunity to test some of his new bolts +2 and, well, killed the poor guy in his sleep. No one else went hostile, and my rep didn't go down... the weird thing is, afterwards I decided to rest, and now my boy Bernard is giving me the option to request the discount you get after saving Hendaak (is that his name?) And I never did that quest, cause I'm evil after all :-D

Glitch? Or just everyone hates Lethinan as much as my Kensai and celebrates his death?

Well, the punching won't work if you're a monk, obviously

but now that I've walked around a bit, I noticed that the guards are all hostile since I killed Lethinan... but no one else, and I'm still getting the discount. Not a bad deal for an evil character! Slaves go unrescued, and I save some cash

wow, yes!!! Im gonna slap that hag(Nalias Mother) in Darniese Keep to death. Im a female sorceror so it will be a pure chick fight. Then I'll reload and polymorph her into a squirrel first, then cast a comet after her. Then hit reload again, polymorh agaian followed up by imprisonment [img]smile.gif[/img] Then she can spend a few milleniums in the abyss.

Agreed.. that hag in the de'Arnise Keep is such a @*@#&*$!!! Everytime I open the room, and that start the conversation, I regret that instant that I'm not evil enough to kill her..

Yeah, slapping around annoying townsfolk is fine and all, but there's little as satisfying as pummeling Hear'dalis in the middle of the street after one too many random comments about my party's rep being too high or too low. Or anytime you feel like it for that matter, since most of you don't like him

But my original question goes unanswered! Are you supposed to get the discount from Bernard just for killing Lethinan? Like I said, I killed him on 'accident' and no one cared except his guards... and the slaver quest goes unfinished. Is this normal?

Nope. It isn't.

EDIT: You don't even kill Lehtinan in the original; Hendak does it for you.

Apparently, the only thing that determines the discount is whether or not Lehtinan is dead. Doesn't matter who did it. How's that for weird?

I've got this GREAT screenshot at home (at least, I hope I still do) illustrating how I use my fists when I'm dissatisfied with my party members:

hehe Nice! Reminds me of when I was running around with my Paladin knocking out every beggar in the Slums, and in the background I kept hearing Minsc's comment of "Ahhh, we all are heros! You and Boo and I, hamsters and rangers everywhere, REJOICE!" *squeek squeek*

which by the way raises an odd observation... Minsc, being so dull and witless as to believe the whole "Boo" thing, is still smart enough to use proper grammar and say "You and Boo and I?" Would he just say "Me, Boo and you?" or "Boo and me and you?" or even, "Us?" Maybe I missed the part in ranger training school where we skipped our Animal Tracking lesson for the day and studied proper sentence structure.

605, don't be suprised Minsc can speak properly. I know some really dumb-ass people who have total plumb-in-the-mouth pronunciation and grammar.
