*sigh* my parents wont let me keep a pet.
Theres been this lovely cat which has spent the past week outside our house, we know who the owners are, they dont care for it properly, and they said we could have it. But no, my parents wont let us keep it. The cat really likes us as well, it spends all its time meowing outside the house, I even heard it when I got up to relieve myself at 5am!

That's sad, Scholarcs. I've had pets as long as I can remember. In fact, our collie saved my little sister's life when she was 2 and I was 4. She had wandered off and when my parents found her, she was walking across a busy street, with the dog right beside her. His name was Tommy.

We've got 3 dogs. Our oldest one was dumped off in a box at the gate to the tree farm years ago when he was just freshly weaned from his mother. Where we live he would've been killed by coyotes or cougars before the night was up if we didn't just happen to be going swimming and were walking that way. It's a shame that whoever did that had such a low regard for his life. They literally planned to throw it away. He was so little and so cute.

Hmmm, never had a pet in my life. Never wanted one either...too much hassle.

*laughs* Well, they take a lot of care and attention. But I don't really mind. The dogs are friends as well as pets.

Aren't they though? Vaskez, I think you're very responsible not to get a pet if you know you wouldn't look after it, a lot of people I think get pets because they think it's the thing to do, not because they really want one or have any commitment to looking after it.

I agree with you Aelia. I wish some parents wouldn't get their children pets unless they knew that child would cherish the creature. I've seen rabbits left in filthy cages; dogs tied up day after day; even horses left without any care just because the child lost interest. The parent should make sure those animals are taken care of in every way. Exercised, the area cleaned, plenty of food and fresh water, and groomed.

Good morning, all. Just had the most incredible experience. I left at 6a.m. for my regular run with my friend Connie. When we left, the sky was black with the stars and the sickle moon gleaming like points of ice. Completely quiet except for our breathing and the sounds of our shoes on asphalt. We didn't see anyone else, or see one car. When I got back to my house, there was the pink dawn gathering in the East, all saffrony with the moon now dimmed to a soft white fingernail hanging in the pink, the stars all gone except for a few in the West. I just stood there with my big dog sniffing around, enthralled by it all, until the dog, impatient for her biscuit, nudged me, broke the spell, and we came indoors. So, how is everybody this beautiful morning?
