Well i dont really like King that much but i have read some of his books. The Dark Tower ones i've read and the Bachman books...which i didnt think were that bad.

Still, I respect him for really having a grasp of how people would really respond to that kind of sick stuff going on around them!

Liliara; Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams, right? That was pretty good! What you said about D&D books goes for my reading of Stephen King: I stopped when I was ten . Exception however are the Dark Tower books, I thought they were very cool!
Djinn, sorry I haven't posted for a while, was very glad to see you in the Books forum on MH though! Prefer that one as it isn't centered on fantasy.

Jabidas, tricky with above mentioned occupation, maybe next month I’ll have a new one for review (currently reading already reviewed Icewind Dale triology and Farseer).
I sort of hacked it in after I saw Djinn Raffo’s desperate cry for answers rofl. I never intented to write critics on them.
Djinn Raffo, maybe was put in wrong words. I like Chapterhouse, I only stated that parts are somewhat less interesting (I refer to those parts on Chapterhouse where Odrade goes into moody reflections of the Bene Gesserit, could have been a bit shorter perhaps), especially compared with those insights into the Bene Tleilax, Honored Matres and the whole thing behind.
The Jesus incident definitely has a bunch of crazy concepts .
Try Winter’s Heart. Maybe was a bit harsh in negative points, he still can grasp you for hours with his strories and there are really some nice (and new) developments.

Hmm! This thread scared me off for a bit, it's hard slogging to read through 85 posts in one go. And most of the authors I read have already been reviewed here. I haven't read Book 8 of the Wheel of Time but I would say that part of Robert Jordan's problem is that he has difficulty killing characters while introducing new ones all the time. The result is a book that is completely filled with minor character's experiences. Then they disappear for a while and turn up again in a completely different place doing a completely different thing! It's madness! I mean, Liandrin is still around somewhere, the same goes for plenty of other characters. Robert Jordan is still a very good author, the first few books (when there weren't that many characters) were really great!

I'm going to review a book by Ralf Isau which I don't know if it has been translated into English (sorry can't think of anything else). It's called (translated) The Dreams of Jonathan Jabbok (it's the first book of a trilogy)
It's about a 14 year old boy - Jonathan Jabbok - who lives in Scotland some time after WWI. He lives with his grandfather - the family is nobility - but goes to a boarding school. He had polio when he was 6 and is in a wheelchair. About that time, he begins having dreams about another world, Neschan. He dreams a kind of "alter ego", Yonathan. Yonathan is washed up at the shore near an old fisher's house. He is adopted by the fisher. Jonathan continues dreaming, the dreams are very realistic and he sometimes wonders if the dream isn't reality and the time he is awake is just a dream. Then Yonathan goes on the traditional fantasy quest - bring a powerful magic item somewhere.
I liked this book very much, the only thing that annoys me sometimes is the strong religious aspect of this book. However, that is because I am not very religious, but the book is still very interesting. Yonathan is a painfully good but inexperienced boy, however he is not 2-dimensional but has a personality (something that cannot be said about the main characters in some other books I've read). His friends, whom he picks along the way, are also very interesting people, not at all stereotypical. They often have to keep Yonathan from doing anything rash. I can't think of anything else right now, must be tired. If I think of more later, I'll edit the post to put it in.

Good point about Jordan creating to many characters and not being able to kill any off. Sometime in the next six months i will try to read his new one i think.
Yeah never heard of the other one or Ralf Isau but yeah unfortunatly i only speak one language...plus a little bit of quebecois french, but mostly just swear words.

Hey djinni I dont really like the DnD books that much I just find that sometimes I have to read something stupid, last book I read was Aldous Huxleys, The doors of perception and I would review that but alas this is a fantasy forum. Anyway lifes too serious most of the time so every so often you just well need something you can drift through and not care about which is why we have fantasy.

Well i've said it before and i'll say it again. I have no intention of sticking to just fantasy books here.

That would mean we couldnt talk about Dune. It would mean the Lord of Alcohol wouldnt have started reading Chung Kuo...which he seems to be enjoying alot! It would limit what we could talk about so much. I know i read some fantasy but by no means is that all i read.

I say post away! It might get me in trouble with the mod's but thats cool. If i get in trouble for talking about books i will cry as a great injustice will have been done!

I know it says ADnD and other Fantasy RPG books up top there...but i just cant do it. I would have exhausted all the posts i could have made long ago.

Maybe Memnoch or Ziroc if you read this you could clarify for us?
