Yuan-ti are pretty nice, but I would hate to do like 12 kinds of them since they seem to change from encounter to encounter... (Snake head or eyes or neck or body or legs, etc.... Incidentally, I looked for the original Chinese (if it IS Chinese) of "yuan-ti" - still no idea)

Blizzard handled them as all looking the same (not counting re-colors).

That is true! They also made lots of recolored-but-same-size monsters that shouldn't be the same size (such as the wolf, dire wolf, winter wolf, vampire wolf group)

Ya, that has always bugged me. They could have just resized the model and used the same texture recolored and had four totally different beasts without effecting game play or memory usage. That was just sloppy and/or lazy.

Yeah, especially since they were working from 3D models... :-/

Resizing the model to be used would have taken around a kilobyte per model, and for a game that's measured in gigabytes, that would have been almost literally nothing.

I'm pretty sure that community members have made appropriately sized dire wolves and worgs for use (at least for NWN and Icewind Dale).

They did get the ice trolls right, though, I think - maybe they were lazy sometimes, diligent at others...

I believe you're correct for Icewind Dale, but I've only seen one size of trolls in NWN, though, I'm not sure any of them were ice trolls. I did fight some in a cave after being out in the snow - but they were in a cave, so could have been practically any kind of troll.

There were actually ice trolls in Baldur's Gate 2 somewhere (easily destroyed).

Anyway, I created two new frigid icons: the remorhaz and the polar bear (as well as a cheap-o brown bear recolor - yeah, it looks fat, but whatever ).

Interestingly, MMII says that the polar bear is 14' long, but that is ludicrous - as usual, for real-life stuff, I simply make the icons at scale to their real-life counterparts, so it is at a normal 9' long or so. (Convenient for cheap-o recolors, since brown bears are also 9' long or so.)

(Note that I just replaced the remorhaz with a slightly fixed version right after I uploaded it; just in case you got the worse one.)
