Lost the ability to lie...

"Tell me something about Terrakis and his brothers, then... more that I have not already been told." ~ A brooding expression spread across her face ~ "Tell me about the creatures and trials that await me, if I am to succeed."

Her ears were alert now, to compensate for the loss of faculty in the brains department ~ Why does everything turn so messy the moment I consider departing from my original path?! ~ Grimacing ~ Oh, that I had not had that wretched dream!

Echo

"I am but an echo, and know only what I am told to speak...told to speak...to speak..."

"I know nothing of Terrakis to help you...to help you...you..."

"He is not my concern now...concern now...now..."

"You are..."you are...are..."

"Sleep...that you may be strong...be strong...strong..."

"I will visit you again soon...again soon...soon..."

"Very well, then." ~ She reluctantly accepted vagueness of his words, for what else was there to do? She did need him... somehow...

"Come to me again, when you think I am ready."

Sitting herself down, she closed her eyes, partly meditating. Her breathing deepened as once more, she entered the realms of slumberland...

OOC>>> Larry, I'll be waiting for your next post. Take your time, I can wait

The Underneath of the Forums – The Corridor of the Hunger

Sealed with the corridor of the Hunger, behind the black stone doors that limit its reach into these lightless tunnels, a great runestone has been fixed into the floor. Upon the stone and fixed to it by means of a mithril chain is a book. Beneath the mediocre art of its cover lie the collected words which have spawned countless angsting drow characters and inflicted their dual-wielding scimitars upon roleplaying games in settings across the internet. So terrible has the influence of these words been that its peculiar misinterpretation of the ranger class had even come to be enshrined within the D&D rulebooks themselves. Long had these words lay sealed within the Yellow Kingdom of the most ancient of the IW boards, that strange realm where madness holds unchallenged sway over all things. It was seized, however, along with other books by the Giants of Shadow after their destruction of the Drow and breaking of the Yellow Seal.

Now it lies, the Lost Tome of Salvatore secured behind the black stone doors, the words between the mediocre art of its covers still spawning dual-wielding Drizz’t clones. The angsting drow munchkins, however, appear only briefly in this place for within this corridor the Hunger seizes all in the terrible emptiness of its appetite with such strength that even the screams of the dying are consumed and reduced to nothing.

And so the Giants of Shadow are able to appease the appetite of the Hunger while their work continues along the Ley Line.

The Ley Line

Swiftly have they dug, the dwarves. Pausing neither for rest nor food in the swinging of their picks, picks forged from the claws of the great tunneling beasts of the Underneath of the Forums, they have reached the surface. Much labor yet remains that this foothold upon the surface be made secure, but nothing and no one has risen to oppose them and much will be accomplished in little time while such is the case. Turning to his companion, the first giant speaks, “The way has been opened, it is time.” To the dwarves, the second giant gives the command, “See to it that hounds are brought here.” They smile, then, giants and dwarves alike, for it has been far too long that this land has gone without the terrible baying of the hounds ringing in its air or their hunting packs stalking its shadow-filled places.

Brendon

"Thank you,...for saving me. It was foolish of me to just run off like that. Tell me, where are the others?"

=================================================

Anarrima

At this question, Ana began to weep softly, turning her back to the group.

=================================================

Brendon

Seeing this action from Anarrima, he turned back to the elf, Saithele and asked, "What has happened? Tell me!"

=================================================

Euryale

Euryale jumped in before Saithele could speak, "They would have been here with you now if the giant Terrakis had not stolen them from me. He destroyed my army and stole your stoney friends, leaving only you...for some reason."

=================================================

Brendon

Brendon looked about at the destroyed room and realized that Rhianneth had been taken away.

"So...what is the plan? How do we get them back?", he asked...choking back his tears.

=================================================

Euryale

She hissed as though it were a sigh.

"If you go looking for Terrakis, you will most likely die. There is little any of you can do." She turned her back on the group..."you are free to go now...and remember that if you succeed, I want to see the head of Terrakis here in my chambers when you are done."

=================================================

Brendon

Wiping the tear that had decended his cheek at the revelation that his friends were petrified then stolen by this Shadow Giant, Brendon turned once again to Saithele and said, "I have been gone longer than I realized! I have missed alot, haven't I?"

Saithele

Nodding quietly, Saithele responded in a voice softer than usual, "A few days, but much has happened, the threat grows greater than we had thought, and the darkness grows stronger. Hope is fleeing even as we speak, but we have too much to do to worry about hope, our number has increased, even as it decreases, at least the grimlocks are no longer a threat" he glances toward the hag, "But no matter, I'd rather have you at my back.

A thought occured to the elf before he could continue and he voiced it, "Euryale, you threatened me with poisoned arrows before, do you have any that you could spare for Brendon, most of his were taken when the giants raided this place, their sting might give Terrakis pause long enough for us to strike a more telling blow, even if they do not fell him." Before she could object he continued, "He has shamed you greatly. I imagine the chance to have a bit of your anger and poison involved at the last minute would bring you more satisfaction than merely seeing a trophy brought back to your lair." He stodd then and faced her looking her full in the face waiting for her rebuttle, he should be strong enough to destroy her if she proved intractible, even if it cost him his own life, his death would be devastating to the party, but the supplies gained might help to offset the loss.

Morguerat

The shiny one wasn't speaking, and Morguerat couldn't understand his gibbering tongue anyway, so mimicing the walking motion the bearded man had made, Morguerat then proceeded in a random direction, not really caring whether he was followed or not, standing around left him too much room for thought, and if he was moving he could rally his chaotic brain with the journey, left right left right left right reft light rift leght onward and offward, lift and loft, the loft laughed at the lift. And so his thoughts went as he walked his sword back on his back\; waiting for the chance to draw blood again. The red liquid also seemed to help his thoughts focus, although mere monsters like spiders and crawlers did very little to ease his confusion. A faint whisper promised that the blood of a man would end the pain and restore his identity.

Euryale

"Elf, when I myself was attacked by the giant, none of my powers nor my blood effected him in any way. This giant is unnatural to the world that I know. My poison is as useless as normal arrows to him.
Now begone from my place! You have death to court."

She lifts her head, smelling the wind, and looks at Arcades...."The time has come old friend, we must fly.....to....there" She points to a distant spot on the ley lines. "Be swift, my ancient friend, for this will be the end of us if we fail......" She quickly pulls out a vial containing the scent of Aracades and dashes it into the air, sending it in the opposite direction of where they will be heading....
