Not that I want to stay off-topic but why so? Wasn't it just satisfying to journey around all those pretty swamps, mountains and forests and look at the pretty skies, sometimes engraved with aurorae, in different types of weather, all the while increasing your athletics and acrobatics skills?
I hated wandering around that huge landscape all by myself with all those FedEx quests. Ugh. I never came close to finishing it, and ended up giving it away just to get it out of the house. I hated being reminded of wasting money on it.
Well luckily much of that has changed in ES IV: Oblivion. I'm telling you, I think the Bethesda devs are the only ones who take input from their fans seriously.

Fast travel has been reimplemented into the game, horses, and they even have a "quest compass" to find the NPC. Because with this new Radiant AI, it will be nearly impossible to find an NPC on your own.

But by and large I think Daggerfall will still reign triumphant in the ES series. It was so simple yet so elegant, and was a truly non-linear game. It is really a shame that Morrowind didn't turn out that way and I think Oblivion, as far as completing the game, will be a relatively linear process. Daggerfall had such grandeur that cannot be matched IMO.

Well, based on what y'all are saying, I will give Oblivion a shot. When is it projected to go gold?

Having so little time to devote to CRPGs these days, I have a lot less reason to post. I don't think I've played BG2, for instance, in over 2 years.

Besides, when one happens to be a potty mouth, one often decides that the less one says, the lower the likelihood one will get banned for saying things like *&(@, *$%^, #&@^#$~*_@, etc.

There is no official release but the devs stated they are pushing for a 2005 release. I'd say either around thanksgiving or christmas.

IS IW finally reaching the end of its life or is its heart still beating vibrantly in the gaming and CE forums?
well, i've been here a long time, but rarely post in GD. what i've always loved about IW were the gaming forums. i guess that means i'm not a *real* ironworker.

Most of the people on this thread don't remember (boy this makes me sound old) back in the days of the old blue/black board, there WAS no Gen Dis forum. It was the old BGII forum and we had a LOT of non BGII related threads...before this current version, we had no Gen Dis. Everything was SUPPOSE to be on BG II and there was a few who were upset with the lack of Gaming threads...sigh...(grandpa Black Knight gets his cane and sits back down and tries to remember what was being said...)

Oh yeah, there are a lot of people like me who have had a lot of change in the last 6 years (oh my gawd have I really been coming here off and on for 6 years?) and there really is much time for me to come here. Doesn't mean I don't want to, I just don't get the down time...but when a new game comes out or I get an "new game to me" that I'm playing, there is no where else for me to go but here...

Just my thoughts...

What happened to Alson and Dundee? Their mass debates ( ) were the stuff of legend. Along with Sir Exxon, SixOfSpades and a few more that aren't coming to mind at the mo'? Haven't been to BG2 forum since i've been back. Well over two years now.
