Alae instantly put her arms around Arlyth to comfort him. The air rang as Alaerth drew Isak, his eyes aflame,
"Assassins in this castle! Where are they! Do they still live?" |

"N-no, Lord Alaerth..." the boy said; his tone exceedingly frightened. "The-there were only four of them... they're all dead." he blushed suddendly, "Aunty; I'm sorry, but I've stained your carpet." he looked down at the ground. "Well, they did." Sylquis looked shocked then laughed, and hugged him. "Oh you silly child, it doesn't matter about the carpet! Your far more important!" she stroked his hair, even as Alae held him.

"Take him some place safe." Alaerth snapped, sword still out, "I am going to rouse the Matron. We will see just who these assassins are." He slammed Isak back into its sheath and strode off towards Verloren's old room.
After pounding on the door, Alliene answered, looking annoyed. She saw his face however, and she turned grim, "What happened." "Assassins. Follow me." He led Alliene to Sylquis's chambers to examine the bodies. |

Arlyth still clung to his cousin, and whispered, "I... please don't leave me alone tonight? Aunty? Cousin?" The boy was exhausted and close to collasping where he stood. Sylquis gave Alae a look that suggested that one of them carry the boy - preferbly back to Alae's chambers, since Sylquis's were no longer safe.

"Of course dear." Alae took his katana and handed it to Sylquis, then picked him up easily and carried him to her room, where she placed him on the bed, There there, you're all right now."
Alaerth kicked open the door to Sylquis's room and immediatley spotted the four bodies. Alliene frowned and activated her infravision, then she growled, "Drow." She spat and kicked the body of the female. "From the dead house?" Alaerth examined them closely. One had been neatly decapitated, the other toasted by some spell, and the other two, one of them the female, looked as if they had bled to death from deep slash wounds. "Seems they were killed quickly and efficently." He added. Alliene glanced up from searching the female, "That they were. They didn't deserve it. I would have made them suffer to the end." Her tone made Alaerth shiver slightly. Half-drow or not, she was still cold-hearted and evil as any of them, "Ah, here." Alliene had ripped off the black leather encasing the females torso to reveal a sinister looking tatoo on the center of her chest. It was definatley of demonic nature. Alaerth roused the gaurds, who looked abashed at letting the assassins get into the castle, and hurriedly removed the bodies from the room, with Alliene's instructions to burn them. Sylquis smiled somewhat, "Arlyth, sweetling, I know you've already bathed twice since coming here today... but I think you could use another one, don't you? I'm sure your cousin wouldn't want you to go to bed dirty, and get blood on the sheets, would you Alae?" Arlyth didn't care, he was still in a state of shock. "Please don't leave me alone." he begged, his voice barely more then a whisper. His eyes dropped to the ground, and he wouldn't look at either of them. Sylquis gracefully sat beside the boy, and pulled him into her lap, her arms slipping around him and craddling him gently. Kissing his forehead, she whispered, "Hush my child, your safe here; no-one will hurt you." she shot a look at Alae to confirm this, and help ease the boy's fears.

"Your aunty is right, little cousin, my room is well protected. Come Sylquis, lets get him in the water." With the aid of Arlyth's aunt, Alae undressed him and put him into the heated pool of her bathing chamber. She was gently scrubbing crusted blood off his shoulder when she felt Alaerth fast approaching.
Alaerth entered, looking grim, Alliene behind him, her face rather emotionless. She had something in her gloved hand. "A moment, Sylquis." Alliene approached her and opened her hand...which Sylquis was horrified to see the object was a piece of flesh, "This is from the leader of the assassination party. I wondered if it my be the symbol of some chaotic or evil god." She pointed out the tattoo. [ 09-12-2003, 10:30 PM: Message edited by: Lady Blue03 ] |

Sylquis's eyes were grim. "I see." she replied. Then she turned to address Arlyth, still nude in his bath. "Child, other then defending yourself, did you touch any of them? any? It's very important." Arlyth shook his head, "N-no ma'am," he stammered. "...The only thing that touched them was my blade, and my spell..." he swallowed. Sylquis turned back to Alliene. "You must destroy the corpses immediately; it may already too late. I assume you ordered them burned?" her tone was urgent. "You did not touch them did you, Alliene? With your flesh I mean. Burn your gloves with cleansing fire. Then purify your hands in holy water. It's very important. The taint is poisoned..." the cleric shuddered. "Someone bathe the boy's blade in holy water as well. That will need to be cleansed too."
A scream was heard. And another. "Damnation!" hissed the cleric. "LORD AAAAAAAALAERTH!" a servant was screaming, "A DEMON! THERES A DEMON! ITS KILLING EVERYONE!" the servant was hammering on the other side of the door, and then his voice was cut off by a scream. Sylquis exchanged a swift look with Alliene. "A Pit Fiend... You must destroy that piece of flesh, and the corpses. If you don't; you won't be able to destroy the beast. Once the corpses are burned, we may have a chance of overcoming the demon... if not..." she swallowed. "What are your orders Matron? I can stay here and ward the rooms; guarding them, protecting our family in the room, but that will give the beast the run of the keep... or... I could help track it down with you." |

"I saw that the corpses were burned immediatley." The piece of flesh flared and shriveled to ash in her hands, which she dusted off.
When the screams were heard, both the twins drew their swords, and Alliene pulled out Nizzre and Vilzraquath as well. "No!" Alaerth shouted when he heard Sylquis's suggestion. Both the twins eyes were shining red, "We will not hide in here while our people are destroyed!" Alliene had already left, and with a growl, Alaerth dashed after her, his shield now in hand. Alae turned to Sylquis, "Stay here and protect Arlyth," she said swiftly, knowing she would have to get to Alaerth before he saw the demon and went berserk, "I must get to Alaerth, else I would stay with you." She then heard a furious roar, indicating Alaerth had sighted the demon, and she took off without another word. |

Sylquis sighed, then she turned back to her nephew. "There is nothing to fear, young one. You are quite safe here." she began an incantation, and it put a mystic shield over Alae's chambers; sealing them all from evil, strengthening the already strong wards guarding it. She turned back to the boy with a smile. "Since theres nothing we can do except wait, why don't we finish getting you bathed?" she asked kindly, her tone reasrruing. Arlyth nodded, and after a few moments, he was clean again, and had a towel wrapped around him. His aunt dried him, and dressed him for bed again, then walked him over to the bed, and sat with him in her lap, cradling and rocking him softly. Arlyth lulled by the rocking motion, calmed down.
~~~ The Pit Fiend had four arms; and wielded giant claws. Standing at 8ft high, it seemed almost twice that size due to it's long limbs and evil shaped skull. It saw Alliene and snarled, throwing aside two servants that it was about to kill. Seeing Alaerth, it went straight for him... |
