Hmm - maybe Japanese OSs are anti-umlaut... I do remember once upon a time when that worked (with my old computers in America), but I had assumed they just stopped this function for some reason at some time... Of course, I had only remembered the codes for the happy faces

I end up using the codes quite a bit for text formatting as I create a lot of documents that go back and forth between MS Office and OpenOffige.org which handle some things slightly differently, mostly hyphens.

By the way, it is funny how often german words are used as titles for Japanese games and titles. They certainly also ignore the Umlaute, however...

Certain German words have found their way into Japanese... a few I can think of are:

Arbeit (means "part-time job" here, though)
Atelier (cool way to say laboratory or studio?)

...oops, that's all I can think of for now, but there are more

Damn, Manikus has the coolest avatar!! I need a lot more posts before I can get that, though...

Atelier is French... Although germans use that word as well.
