Ooh, tactful. What boyfriend??
Anyway my friends did the washing up for me and one of them helped me with all the groceries and stuff, so it's not that bad. Besides, I like cooking! And it was delicious! The cake was absolutely divine, too. We finished about half of it, then everyone left but my die-hard cake-eating girlfriend with whom I finished the second half!
I don't mind paying for the food & drinks, it was only five people and I'm not the proverbial stingy Dutchwoman.

Anyway, thanks for all the well wishes cool people of Ironworks, especially grumpy uncle Vask who hates congratulating people so much.

(guess what my sister got me )

Oh, I forgot to say.
Aelia, the presents were great! Am extremely happy with them.

Wendy, love your lovely flowery letters! I've always wondered what website you've plucked (groan) them from, or is that a professional secret?

I don't really hate congratulating people Mel, I just feel a bit fake doing it. Why? Cos either you like someone and then you wish them to be perfectly happy all the time and can't wish them to be any happier than perfectly happy even on their birthday or you dislike them and then you're just lying when you wish them happy anything. That's all there is to it Don't worry, you're one of the people I like

I just love having a niece who's older than me

oh cute pic btw

Was that supposed to be a double-pun, Mel? I'm very impressed...

So Stealthy's will be getting a steady stream of new entries in the future? Nice score on the digicam Sarah, looks like you made good this year

And your 'new' haircut looks lovely by the way. Very sophisticated, very 'now'

Thank you, thank you. Yeah, you would be impressed, you infamous horrible punner!

Vask, you know, I actually completely agree with you. Or well, all right, I almost completely agree. I also think it's stupid to wish people a happy birthday when you don't mean it, or simply as a social convention you don't even think about. And I don't do that myself either. I disagree however that when you do like someone, there is no point either. Of course you always wish them the best, but on specific occasions most people want to let them know about it. When someone falls really ill, you tell them how sorry you are, even though they might know. When someone gets married, you tell them how sorry happy (ack, Johnny's malign influence) you are for them. Same goes for birthdays - if I really like someone I truly hope their day will be much better than just any ordinary day, and I don't feel fake telling them.

Hiero, nah, I don't think so about the pics. Not really my thing.
Thanks for the compliment though. But actually my hair hasn't been cut in ages - I inexpertly cut the front myself the day before yesterday, that's all. So I'm not so sure how "now" and "with it" it really looks.

Really? Now, you wouldn't happen to be implying anything cheeky here would you?
And hey, if you do that good a job at cutting your own hair you needn't visit a hairdresser again man. You're selling yourself short with English literature (although it is a fine pursuit by all accounts ), you should go straight into the high-flying world of hair and fashion design

Melusine, I am Truly sorry that I was so late in posting happy birthday wishes for you. I can only hope that you had a truly Wonderful birthday!

Say, before I'm late again, perhaps I can wish you a happy 'Cinco De Mayo' as well? Remember, its salt, tequila, and Then the lime.

I agree with all the other males here, so yeah, nice pic.

(LOL at the typo )
