~ At the sound of his voice, she lifts her head, tilting it to meet his concerned gaze. The iris of her eyes seems to darken further ~ "I'm frightened, Larry..." ~ her voice falters further ~ "I did my best back there; I know it. My teachers wouldn't blame me..." ~

~ She takes another deep breath before continuing ~ "But this is unforgiveable! Here I am, behaving like a clown... has all their hard work been reduced to this?" ~ she shakes her head sadly ~ "Yet I felt so happy... I never felt so carefree in my life as that moment..."

~ Holding her head in her hands, the burden of her thoughts weigh her down and she kneels down, shivering ~

"If I can do anything to help you, I will. I owe you my life, Mistral," Kaz says earnestly. She crouches down beside Mistral.

I've never had a sibling..." ~ her face flushes ~ "I'm sorry. That was too presumptuous... even ludicrous to you, I suppose." ~

~ "But truly, your life will continue to be blessed; I can sense it. Anyone else would have saved you that day." ~ her voice fades. ~

Maybe your school taught you to be heartless, cold, non-emotional,,,but those are the makings of an obedient, mindless slave!
You should not be oppressed to feel the natural instincts of love...

I know that one cannot change who they are...They can attempt to hide it, act around it, whatever, but you are who you are, and your feelings for others is a great asset, not a burdon. Think on it, friend..."

~ She envelopes Kaz in a long embrace, stroking her silky hair ~ "Kaz... my sister." ~ Her eyes close, and she breathes deeply, savouring the sensation of holding another being intimately. Biting her lips till the colour goes off from them, she trembles slightly before whispering ~ "I belong somewhere, at last." ~ Gently, she releases Kaz and kisses her lightly on the nose ~ "I swear that I'll lay down my life for you if I have to." ~

~ Turning to Larry, she replies ~ "Everything I have today, I owe my teachers. They've shown me that following the path of neutrality and the law is generally the right one. And that following the path of love is unpredictable, dangerous, ruin even... yet here I am, bonding with Kaz. Somehow, I feel that I've let my teachers down terribly..." ~

~ With an effort, she shakes her troubles off and gets up ~ "I'm sorry for causing the both of you undue worry. It's probably the air in this place that's getting me overwrought." ~ An idea flashes across her head ~ "I need to get something from the streets above. Especially now that I've a sister in my life. Kaz, please stay here with Larry. I won't be long; I promise." ~ She dashes out in search of the stone and locates it quickly. Picking it up, she runs to the portal and enters it...~

~ Once above, Mistral sprints to the stall that had caught her eye earlier ~I mustn't keep Kaz waiting...~ The owner grins cheerfully as he sees her. ~ "Welcome, good customer! I'm Luthor, most pleased to serve you! Please, have a look around; I'm sure you'll find something suitable enough!" ~ He gestures smilingly towards his menagerie of exotic creatures.

Mistral peers carefully at each animal in turn, frowning a little. Finally, she locates her choice ~ "I'd like that one!" ~ Luthor's laughter comes out in a boom ~ "Looks awesome, doesn't she? She's a bright one - knows every word of the human and elven language. But she's a fierce one, I'll have to warn you..." ~ His chatter comes to a complete halt as he sees the creature lavishing Mistral's caresses and gentle whisperings ~ "Well, I'll be! By Gawd, I thought I'd never find a home for that one!" ~ He shakes his head disbelievingly. ~ She smiles, with the hawk perched steadily on her left wrist ~ "How much does she cost?" ~ Luthor scratches his head undecidedly, then shrugs ~ "No one wanted her, anyway. She's yours for free." ~ Delight suffuses her face ~ "Thank you!" ~ She plants a quick kiss on his wrinkled cheek, which promptly reddens. ~

~ Turning to her new friend, she whispers ~ "Let's go, shall we?" ~ Making their way to the abandoned house, they enter the portal. Within minutes, they have returned to the kitchen of the palace once more, the hawk flapping her magnificent wings in greeting at Larry and Kaz. ~

~ "It's time to get acquainted. Larry, Kaz and Isabeau." ~ Turning to her friends, Mistral says ~ "Now we'll always be able to keep in touch, even if we're separated. Especially you, Kaz... I'd never feel safe without knowing how you were." ~
