okay how's this for an idea;

trilogy starts with BG 1, followed by the second movie which chronicles the events of BG 2, and the third movie deals with TOB.

now for the actors, the main party could consist of 8 characters instead of the usual six we have seen in the game, you don't have to go into much detail concerning the other npc's from the game just brief scenes where they are introduced and go off on their own, or make mention that they will take care of some of the smaller quests while your main party does the more important one's. and as for the party, well here is a list of actors and actresses for for the eight party members and other characters.

Aerie: Sarah Michelle Gellar
Minsc: Bruce Willis
Imoen: the dughter from Who's the Boss
Viconia: Rebecca Romane Stamos
Keldorn: Sean Connery

Irenicus: the guy who does his voice in the game, can't remember
his name, great actor
Elminster: Patrick Stewart
Gorion: Alfred from the Batman movies, if he is still alive
Sarevok: not sure
Volo: Tobey Maquire (play as the narrator and the guy who follows
the group and records the events)

and so everyone should know, as per the romance, the main character would end up with Aerie, because it does make for a better story, movie wise, and of course as the narrator would finish the dialogue for the third movie you would see the main character and Aerie with child in her arms, passing through a forest reaching the crest of a hill and just beyond seeing the Avariel city of Faenya Dael. and i thought of how to get Aerie her wings back, just when you release your god powers, Ao the Overfather is there and you ask him for a favour, considering that quite possibly if you had chosen the god route, you might have challenged him for power, that he restore her wings, and when she does get them back very moving scene, sniff.

Arwen was used to replace Glorfindel not (just) because they needed more women (they did..), but because of a continuity error. Glorfindel died in the Silmarillion, which took place before LotR.

Um, actually, no, he didn't, and Arwen WAS written in solely to appease the women's audience. FACT OF THE MATTER: Elrond would never have allowed his daughter (in fact the highest-ranking eligible female in all of Middle-Earth) within 50 miles of any sort of serious fight (nor would she have wanted to go on her own account), and yet in the film we see her casually romping off into the Wild and fending off Nazgul. But wait, there's more: I hear that in The Two Towers, Arwen is going to be at the Battle of Helm's Deep. Yes.

For some reason, the trailer for The Two Towers shows some footage of Arwen lying down in a small rowboat in what looks like a pond, sort of a Lady-of-Shalott type thing. What the heck is this? Sorry to inform any hack Hollywood writers out there, but the War of the Ring was NOT won by Elvish princesses floating about in boats!!!

Anyway. Baldur's Gate 2 movie. Personally, I think Lawrence Fishburne would be a damn good Valygar, but the problem is that the part of Valygar would be a waste of a good actor because the dude NEVER SAYS ANYTHING! The Jan Jansen--Danny DeVito parallel is a fairly easy one, but what to do about Korgan & Mazzy? Maybe just taking a normal-sized actor & shrinking them would be in order for them. Sean Connery would be all right for Keldorn IF the Gauntlets of DEX aren't called into play--at his age, 9 DEX would be right up Connery's alley. One fun possibility is Irenicus forming his OWN party of six (or eight), with at least one NPC that's secretly in both.

I am willing to concede that I may be wrong-- it has been MANY years since I read the books-- but I am quite certain that I recal Glorfindel dying at the fall of Gondolin...
Maybe I am remembering incorrectly. I will have to re-read the books.

Gorion must be played by Anthony Hopkins.

Elminster must be played by either Ian McKellan, Sean Connery or Richard Harris.

Garrick would probably be some annoying twentysomething male heartthrob - like, say, Leonardo DiCaprio. Hopefully he'd get killed.

And Jon Irenicus? Jeremy Irons. He would be perfect in the role - heck, they even have the same initials. I would say David Warner, if they could do it Darth Vader style, with one person as the voice and another as the body (although I kinda get the feeling that Sarevok would be like that, too).
