"Well met Dantes - I think that I ought to introduce myself. My name Rashanbor - and I have heard about the struggle with the legendary Modding Mage. I thought the threat he represented had been defeated, but apparently some trace of his malevolence still lingers. "

ruby looks very strangely at the creature. wyrd too seems to take interest in it. she sits side saddle style on wyrd and they pad up to the newcomer. inspecting his mount carefully, ruby's eyes are wide in amazement. it is easy to tell there is a running commentary between wyrd and herself, discussing what the see. once satisfied they step away and allow space between themselves and dantes.

The wind blows over her, and she stares at what is left of the Modding Mage's castle.....

As she stares, her focus is drawn to the distant mountains where she first met the windgatherer and the young ranger.....

Her ears prick up, and she narrows her eyes as she lifts her nose into the wind, and howls.............

The wind carries her howl thru the land, and into the mountains............

Images run through her mind, and she remembers..............

Brendon Grey

Brendon could not believe the power that they were gathering in their force against this evil! Now, a mage of no small repute had just shown off in style to the party and had shown extreme desire to get going on this mission. Brendon scuffles to catch up to the party that has now parted a bit out of the way on the road, and aiming to get going. Yet, then he remembers the old dead guy, and turns his head to look back. Thinking that no harm would be in it, Brendon waved to the nearest to hear him that he'd catch up, then ran back to the treehouse. He saw the undead sage still in the same position as before.

"Excuse me, sir...I was wondering if I may ask a boon of you. Sir"???

Zachary moves up so that he can speak to Sir Morguerat.

"Forgive me for prying, but you say you were a favored warrior of Helm until your "spark" was extinguished by darkness...and now you fear that Helm is unable - or unwilling - to restore your favored status. You also say that Odin "may" save my soul if my faith is strong enough. I assure you that nothing could sway my faith in the All-Father. I do not proclaim to be His "Chosen One" out of arrogance and egotism - it is simply a statement of fact based on my own experiences.

I have faced grievous dangers, many that I had no right to survive, yet Odin has seen me through every trial I've faced. And I have died on the battlefield in his honor before...only to be "returned" back to our Prime Material on the All-Father's own steed, Sleipner. I tell you true, I have experienced no greater thrill or honor in life.

I do not know your history; how this "darkness" extinguished your spark or what efforts you have made to have it restored....but I DO know that ALL the gods (including Odin) are a finicky lot at best. Choosing their champions based on qualifications only they are privy too. You question my faith, but perhaps it is your own faith that has wavered. Perhaps Helm is still "testing" you to see if you will remain true to Him despite your trials.

Who knows? Perhaps our meeting was pre-arranged by Odin and Helm. Maybe my unwavering faith can serve as a beacon to restore your lost faith. Maybe not. But know this, I will gladly do whatever I can to help you regain your status, if it be your wish".

hearing the haunting howl ring throughout the desolate land, a look of pure empathy passes over ruby's face. as if that single syllable spoke volumes of pain to her very soul. she closes her eyes and starts humming to herself and wyrd.

For Brendan Grey

Myron Epimetheus

Thinking is always so much more pleasant when one has something warm to drink and the little man smiles contentedly in his chair as he scribbles notes in the margins of the book he is reading. The pursuit of ths idea has taken him far along in thought and he pauses a moment to sip warm water from his mug and to decide how best to continue with his thinking. As he pauses, the sound of a frustrated voice that had been calling to him for some time now finally comes to his attention. He looks up from his book at the sound of the voice but is puzzled to see no one in the room with him. Rising from his chair he shuffles toward the center of the room muttering while he does so about the curious acoustics of wooden chambers such as this. He pauses a moment as a thought about the propagation of sound strikes him and pulling a crumpled napkin from his pocket – truly these small napkins are wonderful for the writing down of things – begins to scribble a few notes on this matter. After another few moments the frustrated voice once more breaks into his attention and the little man again looks around the room, puzzled that no one is within it other than himself.

“Down here!” Brendan’s words rise up from the base of the tree.

“Ah yes! Of course, of course – the voice is coming from the outside! Curious indeed the movement of sound in this place .....” He scribbles a few more notes and speaks softly as he does so. At the strange words from the mouth of the little man Brendan is lifted upward through the trapdoor of the treehouse. He is levitated away from the opening and settled gently down until his feet touch the floor of the structure at which point the sage stops speaking. He continues to scribble his notes a few moments longer before finally looking up. His sunken eyes fix themselves intently on his visitor. When he speaks once more, his voice is dry and brittle but with a strange liveliness about it, “You are not a native of this forum. How did you arrive here?” The sunken eyes of the sage gleam a moment at the prospect of learning a new thing.

Brendon Grey

"Er...well...Sir, I find that a riddle to answer, as I really do not know how...but I was led here to investigate and help control an undead entity of evil that drains life and magic from the world around it. Er...I have met up with these chaps..."(pauses to point in the direction of the other members of his party)..."and now we are on our way to probable death and failure. So...I guess...you...you are ready to laugh at me now, eh?"

ooc: Come now, Larry, you don’t believe he’s gonna let Brendan off that easily!

Myron Epimetheus

All people, it has been said, by virtue of their very existence as people, desire to know.* The hunger for knowledge burns with a terrible vigor within the little man and the vigor of that hunger now gleams in his eyes. “‘Led,’ you say? And who is it that has led you here? I simply must know!” There is a real excitement animating the stiff, dry limbs of the sage. “Yes, yes in as much detail as you can possibly provide. ‘An undead entity’ you say? Why this is indeed simply a fascinating thing!” The confusion on the young man’s face does not deter the insistence of the little man who grasps his arm with his own cold hands and leads him to the chair. “Yes, yes, sit down so that you are comfortable while you speak. ‘A riddle’ you say? Then we shall have to inquire into the solution! But surely there is more to this than you have told me. Please continue.” He notices the slight shiver in the young man and this reminds him of the strangely persistent chill in his own body. “Ah! You are cold! It is no wonder then that you do not believe that you know anything more – it is so hard to think clearly when one is cold. Yes, yes, thinking is always so much easier when one has something warm to drink.” A few muttered words later, the little man hands Brendan a newly conjured mug which he fills with warm water from the kettle.

* A paraphrase of the opening line of Aristotle’s Metaphysics. Sorry - as should be obvious, Myron is a helpful way for me to relief some of the semester’s academic pressure *LOL*

ooc: NOTE - Myron does hot have the damaging cold touch of lich – his hands are simply cold with the coldness of not being alive. There is also absolutely no trace of evil about him, he seems to be an incredibly active mind alive inside a very dead body.
