SIR BLANDAMOUR (Relaxes grip on Cold Iron's hilt just a little.) "I shall indeed heal you when you have answered my questions. If I do not kill you for your answers. Say on."

KINN'ZUWANNIK "Ah, I know you to be a man of your word. And, why not trust me, there is nothing that I would gain by hiding. Let me see. I think that I have already answered your question about why I did it. For the Vase of Peace of Mind. When am I going to get that back, by the way?" (Sees the expression on Blandamour's face and hurries on.) "As for the lich, yes, Peven is his name. He was a great mortal wizard, once, but, felt his death approaching and became a lich. Of late, he became sorry that he never had an heir, so he set about creating one. He had a phial full of his semen, magically preserved, for some spell or other, I presume, and he enchanted a tribe of orcs. Not too hard, for a lich of his power. He determined astrolgically that your sister was the one whom had the greatest chance of success, and kidnapped her. He then made the orcs methodically assault her, magically changing their seed to his. So, you see, the Lady Roxanne bears Peven's child, not some half-orc. That is why he is frantically searching for her, to steal her back. He is not having any luck, though, I hear. You must have chosen her refuge well. Now, will you heal me, and let me go back to sleep? Enchanting as it has been to meet all of you, again. Lady Blandamour, your Royal Highness, my duty."

A fleeting thought of why she didn't stop by Avalon's cave to tell him of what Kinn'zuwanik had done to her passed through her mind. She shrugged. Plenty of time to tell him later, then this black wyrm would be sorry.

ILLEK (Puts his arm around Verloren's shoulders) "Calm down, my Princess. The time for vengeance is not now, but who knows what is to happen? Perhaps we may come this way again?" (He looks at the worm.) "Illek is the name, though you did not ask, O Kinn'zuwannik, Eater of Beetles and Frightener of Young Girls. Perhaps you will consider your actions more clearly in the future. Perhaps not. We shall see."

KINN'ZUWANNIK "I knew your name already, Elf. I do not fear you any more than I fear my noble friend. I deal in realities, however, and I know that I am no match for that sword, nor is any dragon now living. Perhaps in the old days, Ancalagon the Black would have taught him a lesson. And, the next time that you see your Mistress, bear her my reverence. Nataskia of the Snows, there's another to respect. But, I will not bandy words with you. If you wish to take your chance, you know where I live." (turns to Blandamour) "Now, heal me, as you promised."

*Blandamour makes a face, then composes himself and lays the glowing hilt of Cold Iron on the dragon's leaking snout. Instntly, it is healed.*

Unable to help herself, she wrenched out of Illek's grasp and stood in front of the dragon, fearlessly and defiantly, "Do not swindle the names of my friends so carelessly, you rotten black worm! I happen to be held in very high regard of a silver dragon named Avalon. All I need to do is tell of him of what you've done to me, then you'll have us and a dragon to deal with!"
Surprised at her boldness, but not about to step back, she rigidly held her ground, eyes blazing.

ELIZA(haughtily) "Yes, what will you do then, worm? I do not think that you should speak to it so civilly, Illek. It might forget who is master, here. Certainly not him. Pah, let us go, there are wrongs to be righted, and I find the stench here unupportable." (She turns on her heel and marches out of the den. When she gets out, she goes to the stream, washes her face, and looks about to see the others staring at her.) "What are you all looking at? Have you never seen anyone sickened by a dragon, before?"

Julano

The necromancer stood bored behind the outer palisade. Now that he commanded an army and wielded near-absolute power there seemed to be few challenges left. He had ordered his patrols to capture anyone entering his woods, or kill them if they proved too difficult to overpower. His captive slaves consisted of two dozen or so peasants, and his cells were occupied by half as many adventurers come in response to the rumours. After just a few weeks, he was done playing with them. They ended up either as new skins for his wardrobe or toys for his minions, doomed to die an agonizing death at their hands and being eaten raw, in no particular order. But now things seemed to have quieted. It’d take some while before the disappearance of the adventurers would be noticed, and longer still before others arrived to look into the matter. Julano needed adventurers; without something to kill his army wouldn’t grow large enough to leave the woods and burn some villages good. Actually, it was large enough for that already, but Julano also wanted to be able to defend against the armies of the realm.
According to his spies there were only two adventurers nearby, both making bold plans in an inn, then drinking another ale before thinking of something new. He’d probably have to come to them if he wished any action from those two
(OOC: at least, I assume Regin and Neb’s lost characters are still somewhere around there ).Then there were a number of travellers who appeared to be headed towards him, but they could change course at any time and go to a nearby town or farmstead instead. They were no match for his patrols anyway. But he still wanted a chance to build his reputation and attract more minions. The longer his troops remained, the more obvious it became the area could not support them forever. But for now, there was little to do but stare at nothing. He was bored.

Legolas

At their increased pace, and having skipped breakfast, they reach the woods early in the afternoon. An abandoned farmhouse provides shelter from prying eyes as they stop to prepare themselves for the final, most dangerous part of the journey. Sparsely informed, for despite what they thought earlier, they passed neither travellers nor locals as they went. Legolas stood peering out one window which had been haphazardly nailed shut.
He wanted to get going and find Durlan, but running straight into the enemy camp, if there was any, was about the worst thing he could do. They’d need stealth to get in and out, but from Ser Castor’s descriptions the woods were packed with evil creatures. And waiting for the cover of darkness might not work either, as some creatures he imagined might be there would actually be more alert in those hours of the day. Besides, he had no idea where the building from his dream was located, or if that was where they kept the ranger. If he was caught.
The elf half wished Sorsha was someplace else so he wouldn’t have to worry about her safety. But she could do more than she appeared capable of, and her being near alone made him feel like he could tackle almost any problem. That didn’t change the fact he’d much rather risked his own life than let her risk hers.
He turns around to look at her.

“I see two ways to find him. One is for us to try and sneak past all creatures in there, but that’s risky and we might have to search the whole area before we find anything. The second is for me to walk in there and let myself be captured. If I’m not killed straight away they should take me near to Durlan. If you can follow and keep me in sight, you can probably get the both of us out with no problems.

Sorsh, can you tell me how long you can maintain a sanctuary spell, and will you please check whether or not I’m having a fever?”

KINN'ZUWANNIK (Looks with amusement as Eliza storms out. He switches back to Verloren. As though accidentally, his tail brushes the manacles that still hang from the walls in the hollow where she was held. They jingle.) "A Silver? One that would do your bidding? How quaint. That would be a matchup to see. Be sure and tell your darling Silver that Kinn'zuwannik and all the black dragons spit defiance at him and all of their weakling kind. Pah." (He curls up and seems to go to sleep.)

SIR BLANDAMOUR "Kinn'zuwannik, I shall have the Order send you a messenger with the vase. I do not wish to see or speak to you, again. If ill chance dictates that we do, look out. Is that understood?"

*The dragon twitches an eyelid, otherwise ignores him.*
