i always thought god would be a cat, but thats just me.
i like the joke but why is everyone taking it so seriosly. its a joke. i mean people like me who don't belive he existed, or at least wasn't the son of god (or god himself as he also claimed) probably don't carewhat skin colour he was. but i'd say green, just for the sake of the argument. Timber, in my church, (Episcopalian), it is taught that"God made Man in His own image" means the soul. After all, if you read Genesis carefully, it is clear that there were other people around besides Adam and Eve. After all, whom did Seth marry? And Cain? Adam and Eve and their progeny were endowed with Divine souls. That made them different.

I think Jesus was a woman:
1. took 1 fish and feed the masses 2. had to constantly instruct the 12 men around her 3. didn't complain when dying for man's sins |

Now then, why are people taking the joke seriously?? Because it does present the opportunity for a good debate. Jesus is almost universally portrayed as being a white Anglo-Saxon here in the U.S. I think it's interesting to realize that this simply wasn't the case (not likely anyway), and it sets the stage for a good discussion. But thats not the issue. Jesus of Nazareth, Nazareth is located in Israel, with the expection of the Falash (intresting link BTW) there are, to my knowledge, no 'black' Israelis.

Sammy Davis, Jr., was a convert to Judaism, as I hear Madonna is considering, studying the Kabbalah and all. Timber, the Divine Soul is the only thing that makes sense of it, to me. Why was Adam the first man, and Eve the first woman? Because, being human is more than being an animal. That is how we Episcopalians think of it. We also believe that a neutral observer at Creation would have seen something like the Big Bang. ("And God said, let there be light." Boom!)

Actually I´m reading a book right now, "A History of God:The 4000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity and Islam" by Karen Armstrong, that descibes how the idea of God came to be. Quite fascinating.

Sounds very close to how I used to believe when I tried to reconcile religion with history and science. And the "six days" following this big bang is six metaphorical days of "god days" which are MUUUUUUUCH longer than human days.
But, then I got over the need to reconcile. These days I believe "god" is much greater than me, is infinite, doesn't plan so much as it just "is" and "does," does not give one whit about my little life in its grand scheme, and looks something like this: Thanks to Lord K for the way cool picture link. (oldie but goodie warning): BTW, I met a dyslexic insomniac agnostic the other day -- who lies awake in bed all night wondering if there's a dog. |

I just wanna say I dont believe in god thats the main reason i keep posting in here becuase i want a nice healthy god debate, i think thats why most ppl take it seriously,
To be honest I used to believe in God till my church used Harry Potter in one of its sermons and i thought WTF? a film? man thats too much, have they already ran out of enough bible to use a film And from then on i havent really believed much people have told me, stupid church making me a non believer in anything except that we all die and rot... |
