*sniffle* I miss Rosalynd! Prettiest little rosebud tarantula you ever would've seen.
And yes it is very cute, K T Ong. Jumping spiders are some of the cutest! [ 09-28-2002, 10:27 PM: Message edited by: The Ornery One ]

Eeeee! So CUTE!
![]() I have always been a fan of spiders and have handled them on several occasions. It always perplexes and saddens me when I find people who are absolutely terrified of them. ![]() |

And I must have squealed like a little girl inside when I saw the Fairy Penguins. I love the Australian wildlife, and am fascinated with the Funnelweb Spider, Blue-Ringed Octopus and the Box Jellyfish. I have heard of the rest, but I am not familiar with them. My only regrets was not being able to see a wild Tasmanian Devil or the Plataypus( saw them in the zoo though). |

![]() Koalas are marsupials ![]() Infact, most of our wildlife is marsupial. Lessee... Kanagroos, Wombats, Koalas, Echidnas, Platypi, I *think* Tasmanian Devils, and alot more I can`t remember Bit of Aussie trivia, though: the national emblem has a Kangaroo and an Emu, not only are they native, but they can`t walk backwards. Well, in truth, the spider does look kinda cute, after you get over the initial shock. I've seen much uglier spiders. I think they are fascinating creatures, but the scare the crap out of me.
I never knew Kangas and Emus can't walk backwards. |

The reason why I thought the spider was cute was that rather wistful expression on the face plus the large, beady eyes... As if he's waiting for his mother or something.
And I believe I said it's no larger than a pencil ERASER -- as opposed to a pencil. ![]() [ 09-30-2002, 08:50 AM: Message edited by: K T Ong ]

In my house over the last few years we've had LOTS of odd pets...
Currently there are 58 non-human critters in the house (one of our kids did a report and actually counted them all). Most are fish... but there's also 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rats (cute and very affectionate), 2 Oregon Newts, A crab the boys found two years ago in the brook (living happily on ground beef... although he's turned BLUE), we recently let go the frog we raised from a tadpole (had him for over a year). In the not too distant past we've also had a Python, an Iguana, and a couple Finches (which our Siamese rather enjoyed... with a nice Chianti I think... bad kitty!) So yea I think the spider is cute... and if he was found around our house no doubt he'd be #59 and my wife would be blowing wads of cash getting a "Spider house" and "spider food" and taking him to the vet's for a checkup, and finding out if anyone makes "spider toys", etc... |
