Until Jessica Lynch herself says that she was raped and tortured, I'd not speculate and make assumptions, thus spreading more hate towards Saddam's followers. Certainly you have some tiny bit of pity for people so brainwashed that they would fight while their supposed leader is nowhere in sight...he could be dead, injured, in hiding, or may have even left the country (via Syria), yet those willing to die for him continue battling against seemingly unbeatable odds.

There have been no official reports released other than that the hosiptal where she was being held was also storing munitions...that she had multiple gunshot wounds, 2 broken legs, and a broken arm, and that there was a firefight outside the building.

I am very happy that she rescued. The fact that she was still alive speaks more for her own resolve than it does for her captors.

The report is not one person was shot in the hospital. Soldiers were not fired at and they did not fire. A fire fight took place outside of the hospital by a small band of Sadam's men.

What I find pathetic is the need to even debate this.

We are so showing the same disregard for life?

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

I am sorry man but some people are wayyyyyyy out in left field. They are forcing children and women to try to drive over soldiers. They are SHOOTING their own people. We are doing EVERYTHING possible to not kill innocent people even in the face of them trying to get us to. There pows are freaking getting medical treatment, fed, and a place to sleep and you dare call is disregard for life? We could destroy and take over every town tonight if not for trying NOT to harm innocent men, women, and children. What a joke

I find it surprising that a bunch of rapist, and killers would take a broken, and brusied enemy soldier to a hospital.

Lets wait till we hear from the girl to see how she was treated. Originally from CNN I got the impression that they were shooting POWS in the back of the head.

It was not totally used as a hospital, but also as command and control and an ammunition dump. Care to speculate why they killed the men and kept her alive? And, who do you think broke her arm and legs?

Didn't I say that?? Easy for nay-sayers to miss, I'm sure. They have mentioned NOTHING of her or her injuries. This only means one thing: they are respecting the family's wish to keep such sensitive info private. That's how it worked last time. You'll see Babs Wa-wa interview her in a few months, I'm sure.

BTW, the note they received, from a local who showed some virtue, was that she was AT a Hosipital and BEING tortured. Say what you like, but I'll assume the worst of these goons in the room with a 19 year old girl, especially when she comes out with three broken limbs and two bullet wounds. Get a grip and get a clue.

Why make any speculation at all?

Personally, I don't see how you all who are making these speculations can sit here and discuss it...do you grasp how that further dehumanizes her?

If it turns out to be true, why does it have to become a topic of conversation? Would you be so willing to sit here and talk about it if it was your sister, your child?

As it stands right now, the girl is at Ramstein AFB in Germany, out of harm's way and being well cared for...I am happy for her and happy for her family and hope that the other POW's will also return home alive.

PAST pow women have said as much. Does that make it a fact? no. I doubt her family or her are reading ironworks. I assure you if I thought so I would not post anything about her abuse in general. The fact is both her legs and her arm are broken and we have people in this very thread debating if it was right according to the geneva convention to free her. I post in hopes they can see how dis-respectful that exchange was.

Oh and let me add, Timber that is not true. I just heard her brother on Fox say 5 minutes ago her legs ARE broken.

Yes, we are discussing it because previous posters have seen fit to act as though she were swaddled at Cedars of Lebanon. She was, in fact, daringly and justly rescued from the hands of her abusers. I would think sshe would be angry at that and want her situation, and her rescuers, taken seriously.

Mordenheim,
You have used tact in your posts and I commend you for that.
Nothing you have said here has offended me.

OT? Arguing whether it was against the Geneva convention to have rescued her is absurd.
