My first char in BG2 was Selena, a berserker. I went with the premise, I dont understand these spell things, so I'll have someone who can hit them all! She got up til just going into the Underdark, and I lost interest in her (I'd played solidly for weeks), and I'd messed up Anomen's trial, etc. So I restarted with Lara, a priest of Lathander, and eventually finished ToB with her. It was only then I tried BG, but for some reason it didnt grip me as much - I had a thief called George who sounded Irish on it *grin*

BG1 I played a Paladin with some terrible stats. All i could remeber was a 14 in strength, (sound of wretching)

Bg2 I am still playing my monk, who, i might add, is extremely weak. Oh well, power comes to all. (especially the monk!!)

In BGI, I started out as a Paladin. Then I got stuck in Nashkel (couldn't find the second level of the mine) and restarted with a bunch of other classes. When BGII was anounced, I made a fighter to take 'all the way through'. I ended up using him 'till chapter 4 of BGII.

First characters are always the *worst*.

BG1: A horribly confused Elven Thief who was mediocre at everything. Quit him in Nashkel because I got sick of Imoen's pain shrieks. (I swear *everything* attacked *her*.) Started a Halfling Fighter afterwards. (Warrior types have shorter learning curves.)

Finished BG1: Unsatisfying finish with Halfling Fighter's party. (Resorted to mass summon cheese.)

BG2: Gnome Illusionist (imported from BG1). Magic system changed *so* much from BG1. Lost interest in Ch. 5.

Finished BG2: Human Fighter/Cleric dualed from Fighter at 7. He finished SoA and ToB with an Evil party, but it was a *terrible* attempt at evil.

Heh. Funny, I used Anomen's portrait for my first cavalier and the game assigned Ajantis portrait to Anomen. It gave a finishing touch to him, I mean that self-righteous look on that portrait fitted to Anomen's character perfectly. And I used Long Swords and Shields too (I did't know about the Carsomyr back then and I played IWD before, where long sword Pale Justice was THE weapon for pallies)

BG1: Ranger, don't remember which race.
BG2: Human Kensai but I never finished that game, instead with a human Sorcerer.

But hey, my character concept was a human native American type named Tornado, and what turned out to be Cernd's portrait fit my concept perfectly. I may have started the game with other characters first, but he was the first I emerged from Irenicus's dungeon with, and he's the one I first finished SOA with.

Usually when I play CRPG's for the first time, I test the waters with several characters, or parties if that's how the game works, before selecting one to play the game through with. I'm fairly sure a Monk was my next-closest candidate for the first game, but I think the curve was a little too steep for me as a first character.

I beat my first games of BG1, TotSC, and SoA with the same ranger/cleric. All the stats were in the 14-16 range. Racial enemy: kobold in BG1, spider in BG2. I sure know how to pick 'em, eh?

I had the same BG1 NPC party that BG2 assumes the player kept. Substituted Anomen, Aerie, and Yoshimo for the missing party members.

When I got ToB, I left poor Pirengle alone and started a Wild Mage, the reason I bought ToB in the first place. Also the first time I played through Anomen's romance in full. (With Pirengle, I had to activate it through the console because Anomen got booted from the party for some reason.)

Each game, I try and do something new. New classes, strongholds, romances, add-ons. The latest project involves a cleric PC, keeping Jan until the very end, and this new NPC named Kelsey that Shaanal met in the Government District that wasn't spouting weird random things from dialogue.tlk like he did to Aizawa...
