It sounds to me like you're pissed because somehow you made a character and he ended up gimped.
All skills have a use, but that doesn't mean they are good under every circumstances. That's the beauty of the system. Just like in M:TG you would get totally beaten if you picked your cards mostly at random without a greater strategy, in GW you'll get in trouble if you don't use your skills right, and cover yourself from getting your strategy ruined by someone that's specialized against you. Most of the time, I chose my skills based on what I'm expecting my enemies to be bringing and how to counter them. You keep mentioning assassins, so I'm assuming that's the class you had problem with. Personally, I'm not much of an assassins player, so I can't give you any suggestions, but I have been beaten often enough by assassins to know they can be played right. When it happen he'll usually teleport in my face and kill me in a couple of second, even before I can do anything if I'm not prudent. Talking about assasins skills, the new feigned neutrality skill is absolutely great for monks. It raise your armor by an insane amount and give you crazy health regen, basically making you invincible, so long as you don't attack, but monks don't attack. I just unlocked it the other night and I'm planning to test it out in action soon, if I can come up with a good Monk/Assassin template. [ 12-23-2006, 09:12 PM: Message edited by: Luvian ] |

No, I like Assasin actually. I made no gimped characters since all classes get access to the same skills earned or bought in different ways and since you can just travel to civilization and change your skills at any given point.
But, with my assassin I need some core skills to actually be a viable assassin. Some of the skills cannot be performed unless a sister skill is performed first and some unless a skill is performed last. So I need certain skills to use certain skills. You are talking about the flexibility and balance of it and I am saying it is not as free-form as it has us believe.

If you don't like the attack system of the assassin, why don't you make an Assasin/Dervish using the critical strike skills and a scythe? Way of the Assassin, Critical Eye, Critical Defences and Sharpen Daggers all work with a scythe. You can also make an Assassin/Ranger and play him as a crit ranger using the same assassin skills as above, but combined with Rangers bow skills. Add in the Ranger skill Disrupting Accuracy, possibly Distracting Shot, and you can even turn your crit ranger into an interrupt/crit ranger if you want.
Then this one's not really a real assassin, but some people also like going Ele/Assasin, teleporting in the middle of the enemy formation, unleashing self centered AOE, then teleporting away. There's tons of possibilities, if you're willing to use different skills and think up different templates. No one ever said assassins HAVE to use daggers. I'm sure it would be even possible to make a great Assasin/Warrior, too, with some research. |

So you can take Assassin as a secondary in Nightfall? I didn't see it as primary is all. This was my original idea, to make an assassin/dervish.

YOu have to wait til you get to the Prof Changer in the Command Post to be able to choose Assassin as secondary.

Well you would create your Assassin in Cantha. Complete your training on Shing Jea, Get to Kainang and then Move to Elona OR Get to Senjis in Cantha and Change your secondary there.

GW: Prophecies is/was a good game.
GW: Factions was so-so but introduced several nice features. GW: Nightfall is a great game - it took all the good from both previous chapters, added an even better storyline (than Proph, Factions' story was substandard, imo) and a few more goodies and ran with it!

Yeah its a great game even if you don't have the older chapters. If you want the older chapters you can even purchase them via the in game online store.
My advice is try Nightfall first then go backwards If you want a trial or buddy key PM me. I think I have a spare around here somewhere.
